Welcome to the realm of Magnus, where leyline energies converge within mystical forges across the land. You are a Forgemaster, and your goal is to conquer the forges of your opponents. Summon your forces, activate your Ignite abilities, and attack with your minions to send your foes to the scrapheap!
As Forgemaster, your task is to construct a powerful lineup to destroy the enemy's forge. When your forge takes damage, remove that many cards from it, placing them into your scrapheap. Once an empty forge takes damage, it's destroyed and that player loses the game.
Your bots have an explosive nature, making your lineup an unstable minefield. When combat occurs between your volatile creations, they may also explode, dealing additional damage to your enemy's lineup or forge. Beware: your enemy also has explosive bots of their own, and one stray explosion may cause a disastrous chain reaction!
Your board is comprised of:
- Forge: Your deck. Protect it at all costs
- Scrapheap: Where your destroyed minions go
- Capacitor: Where you store your energy
- Lineup: The four-slot battlefield for your active minions. Summoned minions go here.
- Hand: Minions available to summon
Bots and Forgelings
Your forge is filled with two types of minions: Bots and Forgelings.
- Energy Cost: Shown in lightning symbols. How much energy it takes to summon
- Attack: Shown in wrench. How much damage it deals attacking
- Health: Shown in gear. How much damage it can take before destroyed.
- Bots also have Ignite Values, which are the three values shown in flaming stones, and determine how much damage the bot deals when igniting.
Bot cards have the ignite ability, while forgelings are best combined with them to power-up your ignites. Bots are mechanical incarnations of leyline energies, while Forgelings are curious, mischievous goblin-like creatures.
Ignite: It's the name of the game.
Ignite is the mechanic that captures the ability of your bots to cause explosions that damage your enemies. When your bot ignites, roll the ignite dice to determine both the target and the damage dealt to that target. This target includes slots 1 through 4, with two chances to hit your opponent's forge. In a game with three or more players, your Ignites hit both neighboring players, giving you a powerful tool to affect the board.
Try it at roll.ignite.cards.
In designing the game-mechanic of Ignite, we wanted to package the thrill of random chance with the ability to swing the game with powerful damage to minions or opposing forges. With the ability to Ignite your opponent's board or forge for massive damage, you aren't out of the game until its over.
Contents / Rewards
Everything you need to play Ignite comes in the box. For two players, the base edition is the way to go. To provide an experience for four players, the Blast Pack provides the same content as the base game, times two. The Blast Pack also includes two sets of ignite dice, so you can play two different two player games simultaneously. Ignite scales up to as many players as you like, so you don't need to leave anyone out when playing Ignite.
Ignite: The Game — 2 Players ($20)
The base game comes with everything you need to play, for only $20! You'll get two 30 card Ignite decks, two gameboards, a set of Ignite Dice, as well as 8 Energy Counters, 12 Damage Counters, and a Turn Tracker.
Ignite Blast Pack — 4 Players ($35)
You can view the full contents, as well as the tech specs on our website, at contents.ignite.cards.
Also, our 4 x 6 print will look something like this:
Pretty cool, right? We wanted everyone to walk away with something cool, and to be able to feel like they're part of the community, no matter the contribution. Consider this a signed thank you for supporting us and our passions, and a thank you for joining the community. Hopefully we can "construct" a little corner of our own in the board game community, together.
Our Goal: Knocking Down Barriers
Many card games have a huge barrier to entry. They require large time and money investments. There are hundreds, or thousands of cards, and dozens of game mechanics, and you've got to know the all of the relevant ones to get into the game. Plus, you've got to own the right cards, which involves gambling on random booster packs, or purchasing them in a second-hand economy, where, of course, more powerful cards cost more. You have to spend hundreds, or even thousands of dollars to stand a chance, even after you've got all of the rules down, and then you've still got to build a deck.
Someone with a more expensive deck, or someone familiar with all of the ins and outs of hundreds of cards, will easily win. Plus, every few months, hundreds of new cards come out, with new game mechanics, new abilities, and of course, they cost a lot of money. To be blunt: it's a system that feeds off of instilling gambling addictions into young adults. The games themselves are very fun, but the system isn't.
With the creation of Ignite, we're creating a game that has the same interactive game-play of the genre, without all of the time and money costs. You can spend $20 once, and have everything you need to play a perfectly balanced, simple, and fun game, without all of the overhead of a trading or collectible card game. Additionally, other trading or collectible card games don't work as family or party games due to their complexity, and by nature you have to already be very familiar with the game to play with others who are familiar with it. Our goal isn't to "take down" these games, it's just to introduce a friendlier, simpler alternative, that doubles as a family game or party game.
If you've made it here, we thank you for reading about our goals; it means a lot to us.
Where's the Money Going?
We have already invested our time and resources into designing and fine-tuning our game. Now we just need your help to get Ignite on the assembly line and into your hands.
The extra money we raise will be reinvested in Ignite. We have plans for expansions for you, but those require artwork, and more testing, as well as other costs. We promise you that Ignite expansions will always be premade box sets, and Ignite will NEVER use booster packs or other means of gambling on cards.
By helping us start this project, we can bring our game to your doorstep, and eventually, the rest of the world. It would mean a lot if we could get our game into people's hands. From all of us on the Ignite team, thank you!
Backstory / About Us
We are a bunch of close friends who recently graduated university with a dream to make a game and share it with the world. We're fond of all things board, card, and tabletop, and we all love creating and designing. Several of us have been designing board games together since middle school, and to release a board game to the world has been our childhood dream. We wanted to take this simple passion of ours and develop a game that everyone could easily pick up and play. Please help us make our dream a reality. From all of us, thank you!

A city made of stone is built in the mountains
But a city made of dreams
Is built in heaven"

Cards are standard poker sized (2.5in x 3.5in / 63.5mm x 88.9mm) and work with most card sleeves. They are the same size as Pokemon and Magic cards.
We have not included stretch goals, however, if we make enough to afford it, we'd like to have spot UV on the explosion on the box, as well as linen cards, a magnetic box, and maybe even 25% red foil on our box and cards. We're dreaming big, but our number one concern is simply getting the game to production.
For more information about the game, please visit our website https://ignite.cards or feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your interest.
Note: "Ignite" is also the name of a dueling deck-builder board game (we're not affiliated with them). It's an awesome game and we encourage you to check it out.
Note: The game's cards are subject to change slightly from the ones shown. No major changes will be made. Also, a different manufacturer (Board Games Maker) was used for the games photographed. We will be using Longpack Games for our production order (their minimum order quantity is 1000).
Note: We may add stretch goals to our campaign later, stay tuned!
Risks and challenges
There aren't many risks with our campaign. Our game's design is complete; it's tried and true. We've put a lot of time, effort, and money into this game, and if we don't reach our goal, our flames will die out. But if we do reach it, there won't be many, if any risks. Our main concern is shipping, but we've calculated the costs, so we'll work hard to get you your game as quickly as possible. We just need your faith and your help, to back us and share our game, so we can create the best product possible. In turn, we'll use those funds to order and provide you with our game.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
