Update 12: Languages, Localizations and A Voice From The Past

Posted by Koji Igarashi (Creator)

Bloodstained has been a global project from the beginning, but now that we're into the meat of the campaign we're making some additions that we hope will make it even easier to take IGA's fanbase international.

First, thanks to Playism and their localization powers, we're opening up Kickstarter mirrors:

Click those links to check them out, and if you speak any of those languages, use them to spread the word! Playism is still working on translating the backer updates (and the images, for the FR/DE versions), but please let us know about any other improvements we can make—these are works in progress.

Second, we're announcing that the final version of Bloodstained will be playable in six languages:

  • English
  • Japanese
  • German
  • French
  • Spanish
  • Italian

Third, all Bloodstained players will have access to both Japanese and English voice acting tracks. Each one will be selectable from the beginning.

Now, you may be asking yourself: "All this is great, but I came here looking for surprising and unexpected appearances from the past and future of the Igavania genre. What does this update have for me?

Today's last word comes from—what!?—it's been a long time...

That's right: Robbie Belgrade, the voice of Alucard in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, will be making his triumphant return to voice acting in a special role in Bloodstained.

We'd tell you where in the castle you can find him, but that would be revealing too much...

Want to know exactly where he is? Here's one option: He's graciously offered to record 10 fan messages to help the Kickstarter. Here's the tier information, in case you've been searching high and low for a really sonorous voicemail message:

Check in this afternoon for the third Playism podcast, this week's Ask IGA video, your chance to avenge the last Vine Challenge, and yet another surprising and unexpected cameo. Thanks for backing!

I would like to hear Miriam voiced by Houko Kuwashima who voiced the main character in Order of Ecclesia.

Having Norio Wakamoto & Ryotaro Okiayu too would be great =)

    2. Slenðr Bree on

David Hayter (Solid Snake (MGS)) and Alucard's voice. I absolutly love both of them. Your team is gorgeous ! If you add Ayami Kojima, it will be the best one ! :D

Thanks for bringing Robbie Belgrade back, and the bonus languages is always something to appreciate!

      ALUCARD! *faints*

Alright, say what you will about the rest of the cast of SotN, but Robert Belgrade was absolutely spot-on. Nothing against Yuri Lowenthal in the re-recorded version on Xbox 360 and PSP, but Belgrade IS Alucard. I always hoped I'd hear him in a role again, and never did. That he is now going to be involved in this, even in a small role, has my excitement for this game through the roof. Or, to put it another way, "I'm interested in this." :D

Iga and Co., what else can be said but "Hehehe, thank youuu!"

I feel this game is going to be really awesome. Is been a long time I haven't felt so excited about a game like this since Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core and Final Fantasy 7 Dirge of Cerberus. I am so happy Bloodstained Ritual of the Night is going to be developed.

Gracias por los subtitulos en español. Thanks for spanish subtitles. :)

This can certainly be a great game and it would be an honor to play it in Portuguese-Brazilian language.

      This is so freaking sweet.

    14. Paul Shin on

Amazing! Despite all of the 90s hamminess in SotN, I've always loved the original Alucard's voice. I can't wait to hear Mr. Belgrade's voice acting again with all of the progress we've made with video game voice directing!

    15. Jacksukeru on

I was gonna get caught up by starting to listen to the Playism podcasts, but there seems to be something wrong with episode 1. The link doesn't work, and neither does the results when searching for the first episode on Soundclouds website.

    16. AJ the Dragon of Dojima on

That is awesome! Welcome back Mr. Belgrade!

muchas gracias por poner el idioma español, es una desgracia que casi siempre lo dejen de lado pero IGA piensa en sus fans

    18. Eri Hitsuki on

I wonder who will be included in the Japanese cast...
I am totally hoping Houko Kuwashima would play Miriam, and Mamoru Miyano would play Gebel, and Akira Ishida as Johannes...

    21. KurowaSan on

      Great update!
Like the english version, do you already have voice actors in talks for the Japanese version?
Also, I'd love to see Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish support. Both for the kickstarter site and the game (text only would already be super. No voice needed).

We want a Portuguese (Brazilian) localization.... Use the singer Roger to dub gebel (pls, don't... that's a joke... he sucks)

    31. jibaycay on

      Sweet, a French translation!
      *look at*
Hm.. it's a bit literary, but ok.
I don't read everything, but I would like to correct you about the Swordwhip.
You translate this word by "épée-lasso". "Epée" is correct, but a "lasso" is a rope that cowboy are using to catch cows or everything else, the right word is "Fouet". So the Swordwhip should be translate by Epée-fouet, or portmanteau word like "Fouépée" (I hope you'll find something better :d).

      Thank you :d

    32. Chan Leung Man on

Any chance for Traditional Chinese localization? (no need for Chinese voice, I love Japanese vocalist)

I'm a Chinese backer, can you add Chinese Language(subtitle or text only) support?

      Brazilian Portuguese Language plz

    37. DamnCatOnMyDesk

Hopefully now that they have different language mirrors it will be easier for non-US backers to feel more safe in backing this project. ;)
Though the real solution would be kickstarter itself just setting up an official branch in Japan. :p
