Campaign Intermission Imminent...
Greetings all!
On behalf of everyone here at iDGi, THANK-YOU for your awesome support, encouragement and hard work spreading the word on our crowdfunding efforts so far!
We’ve learned a lot over the past few weeks, and gathered over 4400 of you who believe in what we’re trying to do with The Tower. We weren’t successful on Kickstarter, but this isn’t the end of the road. We’ve always said that no matter what this is a game that is going to get made, and that still holds true.
The Radical Plan?
So, what is our radical plan to save this campaign? Well - we were hoping to completely blow the lid open on the entire plan today, but unfortunately we aren’t allowed to just yet. The official announcement will be coming in a press release next week, but the gist is simple: The moment that the clock runs out here, this crowdfunding campaign will officially enter an intermission period. We have found a way to resume this campaign in just a few weeks’ time outside of Kickstarter or PayPal. You were the first supporters of The Tower, and as a special thank you we’ve got a bit of an extra treat.
Pledge now, you are eligible to become a SUPER BACKER...
Each and every one of you who has pledged at the Consortium Initiate level or higher on Kickstarter will not only be able to keep your pledge and rewards when the intermission period ends, but will eligible to become a SUPER BACKER with us.
What’s a Super Backer? It means that in the future all games released by iDGi in the Consortium Universe will be free for you. Forever. This will apply to all pledges made up until the ending of our Kickstarter campaign, so if you’re sitting at the $5.00 pledge, or on the fence about pledging, you’ve only got a limited time to take advantage of this. There will be some more information next week on how this will work from a technical standpoint.
We realize it may seem strange to back a campaign that isn’t going to succeed, but all will be revealed next week.
It's community time!
In the meantime, a new public forum is about to be launched for The Tower, and Consortium in general, and we invite you all to join us there! It’ll be a good place to interact with the developers, and help us build the Consortium Community. We also have some Twitch streaming plans in the works for the near future, including some playthroughs of classic games, or even potentially going head to head with the iDGi developers!.
If you have any questions or thoughts, we will do our best to answer, but keep in mind that we can only say so much right now.
We are really just getting started here...onwards and forwards!!

So glad to read that you'll be continuing to push for completion of this project. It's been quite a while since I've been this excited about an unreleased game. And the Super Backer status is Super Generous =) although I assume I'd still be inclined to support you in any of your future projects.

All those details will be revealed next week. For now you don't need to do anything at all, just sit tight with your pledge - let the clock run out - and wait for word from us.
"Once the campaign ends and is not successful, I don't actually have a pledge anymore" is not entirely true. You are still in the KS system as being at a certain pledge tier, and we will be able to contact you in order to give further instructions.

Just curious how my pledge will supposedly carry over to somewhere else. Once the campaign ends and is not successful, I don't actually have a pledge anymore. Then you mention you're doing something outside of Kickstarter and PayPal.

Eric: It's really simple. The Super Backer concept is just a reward for folks that continue to support us when the intermission ends and the campaign resumes. There are no such guarantees in life, but we all *intend* to make Consortium games for many years to come. We *intend* to make sure that The Tower is far more successful than the first Consortium on every level so that we won't *need* to crowdfund again. So if lady luck is on our side and we are able to follow through on our intentions, Super Backers will never have to pay for a Consortium game ever again!
But yes, sure, that's true. There's no guarantee that we won't need to crowdfund again in the future. Super Backers could still *choose* to back us again if they wanted to help us make something into reality, they just won't *have* to in order to get access to any Consortium game should they be released, for all time.

Hmm glad there is still a way forward. Sounds to me that Kickstarter might be shaking things up and introducing an option similar to IndieGoGo where they can get money regardless of of reaching their desired goal. �

I liked Consortium a lot and was happy to back the tower, and I'll be keeping my pledge.
Buuuuuut....
The notion of promising future free games to people when the funding of *this* game is still in question is not enticing, it's worrying. How do those future games get funded? We've supported two projects so far, why would we assume the next one will go through *without* our support so we can end up getting it for free?
I hope this plan makes a lot more sense in detail than it does in abstract.

Loren: yes, you are an Early Backer to us which does indeed carry that promotion as you said. You would just have to prove your Consortium Game One backer status when the campaign ends and you will become an Early Super Backer. ;-)
