About this project
We'd like to thank our backers for giving us a great suggestion to improve the L.E.D Charger. We have confirmed the implementation of strong magnets to stick the L.E.D Charger on any metal surface: cabinets, building pillars, refrigerators and more! The magnet-enabled L.E.D Charger will be the final version of the charger that ships out to our backers.
The magnets are strong enough to be attached to the bicycle frame. Never worry about biking in the dark again!
We developed the LED to enrich your mobile lifestyle. The LED's high-capacity battery will keep your mobile devices charged up while its high-output, low-consumption LED lights will be useful at home, office, cafe and for emergency situations. The LED is designed to be a perfect travel companion for your day-to-day life.
The LED is able to charge most electronic devices with a USB power source including iPhone, iPad, iPod, smartphones, tablets, Kindle and other eReaders, portable speakers, Bluetooth devices, digital cameras, camcorders, MP3 players and GPS devices. Please ask us if you don't see your device listed. We will be happy to let you know if it's compatible with the LED.
The L.E.D has undergone many phases of design process to reach our latest prototype. We are happy to report that we were able to incorporate most of our initial concept design features into the final production sample.
We put our first priority on sourcing the best quality of battery. This high-capacity Lithium-ion battery is Samsung sourced and provided the best performance among other generic batteries we've tested.
The next thing we wanted to make sure to include was the safety features. We engineered the L.E.D to feature built-in protection against overcharge, overload and short circuit. The touch-sensitive controls were implemented for seamless user experience.
Initial molds have been manufactured for building the prototype. We just need the funds to purchase raw materials and cover mass production cost to make the L.E.D into reality.
id America was conceived by the co-owners, Mickey and Don. Mickey holds M.S. Graphic Design at Rochester Institute of Technology with years of experience in design, branding and marketing. Don also holds M.S. Graphic Design at Pratt Institute but with different experience in international business, logistics and production. Abraham - the project host - joined the team soon after to boost sales and initiate effective marketing campaigns. id America started as a design firm and quickly grew to become a full-fledged manufacturer with many products that made big ripples in the consumer electronics market. Mickey and Don constantly challenged the market with various categories ranging from iPhone cases, headphones to Bluetooth speakers. The L.E.D is their yet another challenge to bring a new meaning of portable charger in this stagnant market.
We have already conducted market research, finalized the design and engineering, and built the prototype of the L.E.D. We’d love to welcome you to this journey as we raise our goal to meet our manufacturing requirements to kick off the production. We believe the L.E.D has the potential to enhance your mobile lifestyle in more meaningful ways than the others. Thank you for your support.

Risks and challenges
We have been carefully studying the portable battery market for more than a year. There have been many products in various forms, shapes, capacity and functions. Our conclusion was that the portable battery should not be too small (low battery capacity) nor too big (hefty-weight). Also, the battery must be easy to charge as there already are many other mobile devices that require charging. Additionally, the battery should offer practical functionality other than the battery function itself to give it much more purpose for carrying it around.
It was difficult to develop and engineer a product that satisfies all requirements that we've set ourselves. Most of all, the portable battery was a new and challenging category for us. We've gone through many different design concepts to ensure that we were left with the best we can come up with. After countless critical internal evaluations, we have reached the current design of the L.E.D portable charger with high-output LED lights and convenient charging docks.
Next challenge for us was to find the right components to materialize the design we worked so hard for. Luckily, we were also able to source a high-grade material and phenomenal Samsung battery at a reasonable cost for the product to be competitive in the market.
At 5200mAh with 2A output for charging iPad and tablets, the L.E.D carries enough juice to charge up most smartphones more than two times and offers phenomenal value with 2 charging docks and high power LED lights that can be used in a variety of circumstances. We were able to overcome our design and engineering challenges to build a prototype that is ready for production. We now need your support to kick off the production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
