iCPooch is an internet enabled device that lets you video chat and deliver your dog a treat from anywhere in the world!
iCPooch is for pet owners who are at work, at school, traveling, out to
dinner, running errands, or just away from home and miss their pet
(and/or their pet misses them). With the iCPooch device connected to a
home wireless internet router, you can deliver a treat from a
smartphone, tablet, or computer no matter where you are. The device also
has an adjustable mounting bracket so that you can attach a tablet
or smartphone (not included) and video chat with your pet!
The tablet/smartphone operates independently of the iCPooch device, but you control both from the iCPooch Android app, IOS app, or web browser. As long as your smartphone/tablet has a microphone and a camera (most all do) and is connected to the internet, you can video chat with Fido at eye level, and with the press of a button deliver a treat. An estimated 13+ million dogs suffer from separation anxiety, and we know that pet owners do too!
A removable/re-loadable sleeve inside the device holds a variety of different size dog treats. One treat is delivered each time the drop cookie command is given.
But wait, there’s more! We have iCPooch dog treats too! Based upon our testing, your dog will love our treats, and you will be able to purchase iCPooch treats from our website and from a variety of retailers. We have designed the iCPooch device to be compatible with a variety of sizes of hard dog treats.

How you will be helping
To date we have received investment capital from individuals and angel funds. We have utilized that funding, along with our own financial investment and long hours, for design engineering, app development, hardware and packaging prototyping, and our biggest step of getting the tooling done to be able to produce iCPooch at an affordable cost. We are so close to launching our product! Your contributions will help us with our final push including putting the final touches on the app, doing user acceptance testing, and pre-purchasing some of the key components.
- First manufactured parts produced and currently being evaluated
- Finalizing app development
- Retail package design complete
- Our inventor Brooke Martin is selected as 1st Runner-up in the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge for her iCPooch invention and video submission!

- Early prototype development begins - November 2012
- Utility patent filed - March 2013- Initial angel investment secured - May 2013
- Custom software application development starts - June 2013
- 3-D prototype of device produced - July 2013
- App initiates first cookie drop - September 2013
- Brooke Martin selected 1st Runner-up in the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge! October 2013
- Injection molding supplier chosen - November 2013
- Functional video chat integrated into app - December 2013
- First manufactured parts produced for review and fit - January 2013
We have selected a U.S. firm for the injection molding, KeyTronicEMS and the injection molding will be done in the U.S. The tools to produce our manufactured parts have been created and we recently received the first small batch of parts to test! The design of our controller board is complete and we should have prototypes ready for testing by the middle of February. The controller boards were designed by a U.S. firm and will be manufactured in the U.S.
For final assembly and testing, we are working on an in-house process and lining up manufacturing space where we live, and would utilize contractors from veterans and disabled organizations. We are analyzing multiple production possibilities to ensure both efficiency in assembly and test protocol accuracy. In parallel, we are working with multiple outsource manufacturers located in the U.S. to get costs on assembly and testing so that when our unit sales increase we can switch to outsourcing the assembly/testing if necessary.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
As with any new technology product, once our project is successfully funded there are still some risks involved. We have a working prototype and the software is 80% complete, so we feel confident in the functionality but here are few items to note:
Timeline - if we have trouble procuring inventory of the various parts, our expected delivery date could be pushed out slightly. However, we have lined up multiple sources of all the parts and we don't expect this to be a problem.
Functionality - there is a chance that our android or ios app doesn't work with every smartphone/tablet/pc/apple product ever produced. However, we are designing a web interface too, so that any device that can access the internet can access our website and give the "drop treat" command.
We are planning for a blue/white color scheme, but depending on surveys we recently sent out the initial Kickstarter units may be a different color.
The device needs to be connected to AC power, and (wirelessly) to a wireless internet router. An internet capable computing device (pc, tablet, smartphone) is needed to control the device.
No. A tablet or smartphone can be mounted on the device using the adjustable mounting brackets, and that would provide video chat capability via the camera, microphone, speaker, and screen. The iCPooch hardware operates independently of the tablet/smartphone that can be mounted on the device. So you can drop a treat without video chatting with your pet.
Yes it does You can drop a cookie while video chatting, both using our iCPooch app.
Can the app control multiple iCPooch devices if I have more than one pet or devices in different locations?
Yes. Each iCPooch device has a unique identifier, and using our app or after logging into our website you can choose which device to send the “drop treat" command to.
Yes, as long as it is within range of your wireless router and within a few feet of a power outlet.
Our device is bottom-heavy, which helps greatly in stability. In our testing so far, no dogs knocked over the device or come close, even the big dogs. All our tests show that dogs learn to really respect iCPooch, and their owner at the other end of the video chat.
Simply add the additional cost of the item(s) you want to your pledge and message us telling us what items you would like. We will make a note on your account and make sure you receive the items at the end of the Kickstarter.
