Today, so much of the way we eat has been mass-produced and commoditized. Stateside is just the opposite. Our goal is to bring baked and frozen nostalgic treats - with no preservatives - to our children and the people. It is the right thing to do.
It's understandable that parents today are so reluctant to let their kids indulge in any kind of sweets, especially now that we are so much more educated about what goes into the products we consume such as high-fructose corn syrup and preservatives.
With Stateside Treats, you can feel confident about the ingredients used and have no hesitations about sharing them with your children.
Natural treats also have the added benefit of the "crunch effect," the psychological effect of satiety that comes from hearing your food crunch as you chew and chomp. Food laden with preservatives has an unnatural softness that promotes binge eating and prevents you from feeling full. You know you are eating fresh, high-quality treats when you can hear the crunch as you eat, which reduces cravings and prevents overeating.
Our nostalgic treats are free of the garbage in mass-produced food.
Since 2009 we have celebrated with customers birthdays, engagements, weddings, holidays, graduations, etc. from the Cupkates Food Truck; and 2014 from the Stateside Bakery shop. Sharing the love has always been a fundamental driver of humankind.
Our customers come from vastly different cultures and places. And yet, no matter where we are in the San Francisco Bay area, we are united by the love of baked treats and by the universal, powerful, human desire to connect with each other.
Reaching our funding goal will allow us to purchase the following equipment for our retail shop: freezers, three-part sinks, water heater, ice cream dipping stations, ice machines, ice cream holding cabinets, refrigeration, grease trap, etc.
Exceeding our funding goal will allow us to add the same equipment above to our food truck.

After a year of running the company, we are ready to build the Stateside Treats brand and to modify our business operations to make baked and frozen nostalgia treats. We continue to be prepared as best we can to face the many risks and challenges in running Stateside Treats.
Thus far, we have done almost everything as a two-person operation with part-time staff. We will begin working with third parties to plan, build, and obtain licenses, and permits for both the retail shop and food truck. This collaborative process with the City of Berkeley and Department of Health agencies may lead to obstacles and delays, but we will remain true to our mission and vision.
To date, we have risked our 401Ks, savings, home down payments, and our careers to make this project a reality. As such, please have confidence in our commitment to face the risks and challenges with creativity and business sense. Like our Kickstarter campaign, we are committed to being open, honest, and transparent with you.
