Icarus Miniatures are made from the highest quality resin that captures all the incredible details in our sculpts. They are cast by the wonderfully talented folks over at Zealot Miniatures. Casting within the UK means we have much greater control over quality, and do not need to wait months for shipments to arrive!
Below is an example of a 3D printed master next to a production miniature.
We launched Icarus Miniatures in August 2015 to bring high quality 35mm resin sci-fi minis to gamers the world over.
Since then our range has grown steadily and we are now ready to release our first 2 starter sets; the Galactic Alliance of Humanity, and the Nexus!
This Kickstarter is to fund the production of the Nexus and Alliance Starter Sets. All the sculpts, 3D Prints, and Moulds are finished, but we need your help to do a larger production run and get these amazing models into the hands of more gamers, painters, and collectors across the world!
The starter sets are:
The Alliance starter set contains 5 highly detailed miniatures, bases, and stat cards to use the miniatures in The Icarus Project. The models included are;
- The Gunslinger, an Alliance special character.
- 1 Male Alliance Troopers with assault rifle.
- 1 Male Alliance Trooper with LMG
- 1 Female Alliance Trooper
- 1 Alliance Outrider Scout
The Nexus starter set contains 5 highly detailed miniatures, bases, and stat cards to use the miniatures in The Icarus Project. The models included are;
- 1 Nexus Assassin
- 1 Nexus Grunt
- 1 Nexus Brawler
- 2 Uniqe Feral Nexus
Icarus Miniatures are 35mm scale models made from high quality resin. The miniatures are incredibly sharp and detailed pieces sculpted by the top talent in the industry. We are committed to world class miniatures, and as you can see below, our miniatures are very faithful to the incredible concept art.
Below are a few examples of the miniatures you can get during this campaign. Click on any one of them to be taken to an album showing images of all the miniatures available on this Kickstarter.
Icarus Miniatures models are 35mm scale resin models, and as you can see in the image below, they will fit alongside a variety of miniatures from other ranges.
If you’re looking for terrain and other elements to go alongside your models, Icarus Miniatures are almost exactly 1/48th scale in conventional scales.
This campaign is not funding a physical rulebook. Printing a full rulebook would add a lot more costs and mean a higher goal. We also want to leave the rules in beta for a while longer to make sure the game is as polished as possible before going to print.
In The Icarus Project, players take control of small groups of elite soldiers, called Strike Forces, as they try and accomplish a variety of objectives; such as assassinations, bomb disposals, or prisoner captures.
With a simple to learn core set of rules, you'll be up and playing in no time at all. While the advanced rules, special rules, and characters will give you tactical depth and a system that is easy to learn, but hard to master.
Below you can see 2 gameplay videos of the guys from The Daily Dial trying out the current version of the Beta rules. Be sure to check their channel out as they post loads of video battle reports!
The game is focused on narrative and cinematic moments, with plenty of rules designed to give you the feeling of watching an amazing battle sequence in a movie.
Leaping between buildings, being thrown from rooftops by explosions, and killing bike riders only to steal their vehicles for your own purposes; all of this and more is possible!
If you want to try The Icarus Project for yourself, click the cover picture below to download the Beta rules PDF.

This pledge level contains ANY 4 Starter sets and is perfect if you and a group of friends want to band together and pick up some amazing minis. It's over 30% discount, which is exclusive to this pledge level.
It's also ideal if you want to pick up a few extra sets for your friends to use as you introduce them to The Icarus Project.
Or if you just want more resin goodness all to your self, this pledge is perfect for you too; you can grab 2 copies of each starter set and double the size of your strike forces!
Now that we're funded, there's two new pledge levels being added for retailers. We wanted to wait until we had hit our initial goal to provide a little bit of assurance to potential retail backers; they know the project is funded before they back now.
We know that a game lives or dies in the Friendly Local Game Store (FLGS), and we want to support retailers right from the start. So we're offering to simple pledges to allow retailers interested in The Icarus Project the chance to get their hands on some starter sets for an exclusive price.
These pledges are the perfect starting point for retailers of any size, giving them a core bundle of starter sets. Retailers who back at these levels will also be able to access the full range of individual miniatures at an exclusive kickstarter retail discount.
If you run an independent store, please send us a message for full details on the retailer pledges.
If you're a regular customer or member of a local gaming store, why not get in touch with the manager and point them in our direction.
Below is a list of the add-on items that are available. If you want to add an add-on to your pledge, simply increase your pledge amount by the cost of the add-on(s) and we'll find out what exactly you want in the backer survey!
Now we have reached our funding goal we can start unlocking stretch goals!
At £7,500 we will unlock a free Nexus grunt that will be added to every Nexus starter set. We will also unlock a free Alliance Trooper that will get added to every Alliance starter set.
These are unique sculpts and NOT duplicates of the Nexus Grunt and Alliance Trooper included in the starter set already.
At £10,000 we will unlock a missile launcher upgrade for both the Nexus and the Alliance.
These are new arm sculpts that fit onto the bodies of existing models in your starter sets.
The Nexus missile launcher kit is a pair of new arms that will fit on either one of the grunt bodies. This upgrade set will be included in every Nexus Starter set for FREE.
The Alliance missile launcher fits perfectly onto the trooper you will be getting for free at £7500 (with a little modifying it will fit the other troopers too). This upgrade kit will be included in every Alliance starter set for FREE.
Because the trooper has fewer arms to cast than the Nexus, you'll also get a backpack with some extra missiles included!
As funding goes higher and we unlock the first few stretch goals, we'll start to reveal future stretch goals. We've got plenty of them planned to give you more equipment and customization options for your starter sets.
We also have a range of "Social" stretch goals that will unlock as we reach certain backer numbers.
We've reached 150 backers which means we have unlocked our first Social Stretch Goal, and there will be Quick Start Rules included in every starter set.
These rules will give a basic introduction to The Icarus Project and tell players how to move, shoot, and fight in close combat. They won't contain any other more advanced or special rules; they will be focused on getting the player comfortable with the basics.
Our next stretch goal will be unlocked at 200 backers and will the a PDF of Artbook One - which is a collection of the artwork produced for the game so far.
The artwork for The Icarus Project has been one of the things people have enjoyed most, and this book presents each piece as a full page look, along with various behind the scenes pieces such as early sketches, words from the artists, and design notes about the characters.
Above is an example of the sort of layout to expect; with each character being given a full page to showcase the finished artwork, and the opposite page talking about the design, the inspiration, and how we came to the final piece. For some pieces there will also be examples of early drafts of the art.
The Artbook One PDF will be included in all pledges of £28 or higher.
Over the past 2 years, Icarus Miniatures has spent thousands of pounds in personal investment and business loans to develop the artwork and begin producing miniatures for sale.
Most of the design work for these starter sets has already been completed; the sculpts are all finished, the moulds are made, and the packaging is ready to be produced.
However, physically producing the models is expensive, and if we were to do it on our own, we would only be able to make a small number of sets.
But we want to be able to get these miniatures into independent stockists up and down the country, so we are using Kickstarter to allow us to produce a much larger run of sets than we would be able to do otherwise.
So we have chosen to use Kickstarter, which is an incredible platform that brings creators and their customers closer together, to fund the production of these sets.
With your help we’ll be able to get Icarus Miniatures into every gaming store in the country!
Using Kickstarter also increases exposure for the game and will hopefully get more people involved in the universe.
Shipping will be charged separately via Paypal after the Kickstarter, closer to the shipping date, based on actual costs.
Calculating shipping this way is fairer to all backers, as some pledges will be much heavier than others. With the fluctuating nature of the pound at the moment, this way is also safer for us. And by not including shipping in the pledge level, it also means we can give you more stretch goal rewards!
We hope to begin dispatching your pledges late November/early December, but to be safe we have put the shipping date as January 2017. We don't want anyone pledging hoping to get their sets before Christmas, and then to be disappointed when they don't arrive in time (this is particularly relevant for international backers, as the delivery time for international parcels can really slow down around the holidays.)
If we over-fund dramatically there will obviously be more miniatures to produce which could delay fulfilment, but that will mean there's more miniature goodness for you to enjoy!
Any delays we should run into will be communicated via updates as soon as we learn about them!
Below is a table that breaks the world into several different zones and shows you the estimated cost of shipping the different pledge levels to these locations at today's prices and the base weights of the pledges. As we unlock stretch goals this may alter the prices, but I will post regular updates to the estimated costs of shipping as the campaign goes on so you can be as informed as possible.
Please do not add any shipping costs to your pledge now, you'll be invoiced closer to the time of shipping for the costs of delivery.

Daniel Comerci & Prokopii Osipov (Hokunin)
Daniel Comerci (Mantic Games, Nova Aetas) and Hokunin (BAX Planetside 2) provide the stunning artwork that you have seen throughout this page. Their amazing talents give the Icarus Project its visual style.
Questron, Irek Zieliński, and 3D Breed Miniatures.
The fantastic miniatures available on this kickstarter have been sculpted by Questron Studios (Mantic Games, Relic Knights, Super Dungeon Explorer) and Irek Zieliński (Kabuki Studio, Warzone Resurrection). All the upgrade kits that will be coming as stretch goals have been done by 3D Breed Miniatures (Skull Tales).
Clockwork Goblin & Zealot Miniatures
Our 3D printing is handled by Clockwork Goblin and Zealot Miniatures, who are both industry veterans who deliver amazing quality work.
All the production models are moulded and cast by Zealot Miniatures, who we have been working with since we made our first miniature. Their work is excellent and we know they will deliver a great quality product to us.
Gustavo is responsible for the stunning paintjobs on all the miniatures shown off on this kickstarter.
Risks and challenges
The main risk facing this project is any delays caused by over funding.
If we fund well beyond expectations, it will obviously mean there are more units to produce, which may mean we overshoot our projected fulfillment time.
We have worked with all the artists, sculptors, printers, and casters previously so am confident in not only their skills, but also their ability to deliver on time.
Production is taking place wholly within the UK meaning there are no long waits on product coming from China, and all the risks that go along with that.
WHAT IF THE PROJECT DOESN'T FUND?
If for any reason the project doesn’t fund, we will release the starter sets via traditional methods as soon as possible. However, this will mean there will be far fewer sets initially produced and we will likely sell out of them very quickly, meaning there may be a longer wait before you can get your hands on them.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
