About this project
Pre-Order A Copy of the Winning Flipbook Here.
Flipbooks are the most accessible way to create animation for young and old people. The challenge is to search yourself and decide what your flipbook would be about.
Vote on the website for the one you enjoyed the most. If you would like to have a copy of it mailed to your door, you can support this project by pledging a denomination of currency that best matches your level of interest. There's a list of rewards on the right.
We should help create a culture in America that compels people not just to consume, but to produce. This is our opportunity to make these animations available to the world. To make them affordable to print, they must be ordered in quantity. I intend to work with Phoenix Press, a printing press here in my hometown with their own wind turbine. The item will be produced using entirely clean energy, printed on recycled paper, in the most sustainable manner possible.
With your support, these can become yours to enjoy and learn to make your own.
What's So Educational About It?
I'm encouraging you to get involved in making them yourself, too, which is why I've written so much about it. Education should be free, so all of that information is available online. You're welcome to browse through the hundreds of pages I've hand-written and scanned, explaining how to draw and animate like mine.
The same techniques can be applied for math (equations), science (molecules), dance (moves), yoga (poses, transitions), skateboarding (tricks), and construction (assembly). Animation sequences can teach in ways that explain things very well.
Why a Flipbook Revolution?
I want everyone to get better at expressing themselves with animation, and that's why I wrote so much on the subject. I hope that you enjoy the website, and that you share it with as many interested kids and educators as you can. Together we can relate our messages in ways we previously thought were unimaginable. You can imagine it too, if you can conceptualize your own island. (The island is a metaphor for a self-contained creative world).
If this project reaches its goal, your item will mailed by December 1, 2011.
About Cost and Rewards
I built a website and designed free educational support online for you to enjoy. As well as covering for shipping, I think it's fair to request $10 a copy (to include shipping and taxes). If this continues to gain momentum, in the future I hope to be able to print in greater quantity, and reduce the prices on the notebooks to a lower price (but you got to start somewhere).
You're welcome to email me at KidAnalog@Gmail.Com if you would like to discuss the specifics of any of the rewards. I'm sorry if some of the videos are poor quality, some of the ones on the YouTube channel are really old. Thanks to my friend Ryan Cyr for helping with the official video. Enjoy the free music over on the website and I hope you all are entertained by my collection of original flipbooks. Thanks!
If this project is successful, I wish to have future contests from students of the online school, where the winners would be published in a manner similar to this situation.
