My name is Travis Hayes and I am a touring singer/songwriter based in San Francisco, CA. After years on the road and in the studio, the time has finally come to release my new album, Sleepless. I've spent much of the last 2.5 years in and out of the studio working to make these songs. This material is the most meaningful art I've ever created, and I am thrilled to share this part of myself with the world.
My music career has taken me all over the country and given me the opportunity to play in front of audiences near and far. Since my debut release, I’ve had the good fortune of sharing the stage with many artists, and supporting greats such as Nathaniel Rateliff, Chuck Ragan and The Record Company. Performing at venues like the Great American Music Hall, The Independent, and The Fillmore, and playing music festivals SXSW, Noise Pop and Phono del Sol. I’ve spent the past decade pursuing a career as a full-time musician and this new album is the culmination of everything I’ve been working towards: it is my most honest self, and the product of my life’s work.
Two years ago, I had the wind knocked out of me. One of my closest friends was hit and killed by a drunk driver. Her light passed on, all went dark, and I was left lying awake at night, sleepless and unable to make sense of anything. I didn’t know what to do or how to cope so I wrote. I wrote, and I wrote, until I had exhausted all the fear, frustration and anger from my mind. Songwriting has always been this cathartic escape for me, but writing these songs was different. These songs were more than just songs: these songs saved my life. They gave me a place to be vulnerable, a place to be angry, a place to find hope. This album gave me a place to find my strength again. What started out as a laundry list of scary things that kept me up at night, became a collection of songs that detail the reasons that get me through each day.
I set out to record these songs with the help of producer Sean Beresford (Third Eye Blind) and a handful of the best local Bay Area musicians, including guitarist Brent Curriden, who arranged the album. We began tracking in San Rafael, CA at Carlos Santana’s Laughing Tiger Studios. We recorded most of the guitars and overdubs at Sean’s hidden home studio deep within the Northern California redwoods, and finished up the final touches at the legendary Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco, CA. Making this record has been a long journey, and with your help, I hope to bring this album to life.
My goal is to raise $10,000 in 30 days. This money will cover the cost of hiring PR, pressing vinyl and CD's, making new merchandise, and filming new music videos.
It means so damn much to me to have you in my corner. If you can, below are the ways you can help bring this dream to life:
If you are willing to invest in this project, please do so! The sooner you donate, the better. Early momentum is the best way for this project to get fully funded!
If a financial contribution isn't for you, spreading the word is also super impactful. Please share my Kickstarter campaign with your friends through social media, text/email, etc. Getting the word out makes a huge difference!
I’d like to extend a personal thank you to each and every one of you who have supported my music over the years. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for believing in these songs. I wouldn’t be here today without you. Thank you to my manager, Victor Valle, for fighting in my corner. Thank you to my amazing wife, Kate, and my family for their unconditional love and support.
I’d also like to extend a HUGE thank you to all the collaborators on this project, without whom none of this would be possible:

Brent Curriden (guitar, piano)

Travis Pacheco (bass)
Cade Weidenhaft (drums, percussion)
Helen Newby (cello)
Elliott Peltzman (piano, organ)

Risks and challenges
Without risk, there is no reward. If we do not meet our goal of $10k in 30 days, we do not receive any money. It's all or nothing. I’ve worked incredibly hard to make it this far in my career, and I am truly blessed and humbled to be where I am today. I have played some of my favorite music venues alongside some of my favorite artists and have been able to tour and see so much of this beautiful country. As an independent artist, it has been challenging to make waves in this industry and receive commercial recognition. With your contribution, I hope this can be the catalyst to take my music and career to the next level. Thank you for taking this journey with me.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
