For the last five years my longest running collaborative relationship has been with my friend and muse, Faye. We would love to celebrate this by condensing our extensive body of work into a beautiful coffee table book.
Faye and I have been working together since 2012, when I was at the very beginning of my journey into photography. Over the last five years we've become friends as well as collaborators. We've created hundreds of images in various settings over the North West of England; seeking out locations which combine our love for brutalist architecture, design and pop culture. Many of our ideas come from a shared appreciation of cinema and music, which we like to make (obscure) references to in our styling and props. We often travel around to other parts of the UK and overseas, whenever we find a new house or outdoor space that looks like it has the potential to suit our style.
After so many years of working together, we understandably have hundreds of images to choose from and over the last few months we've been curating what we feel is the best of our work to publish in the book. The design process has already begun and the book will be 200+ pages featuring Polaroids, 35mm and 120 film images; as well as many collages, drawings and mixed media pieces.
I feel that I as a photographer have progressed and evolved since the early days of our collaborations, and the book is an opportunity for us to show that evolution in styles and 'the influence of the muse on the artist'. The book will include some new images shot especially for the cover and within, as well as written pieces from us both to give readers a personal insight into our working relationship.
Printing my work is one of the aspects of photography I am most passionate about, and creating a book of this size which will document such a lengthy project, is something I am very excited about completing. Funding gives us the ability to offer the book at a much lower price than if we were only making a small number of copies, because bulk printing reduces a lot of the cost.
My work with Faye has always been some of my most successful and celebrated, so I hope that there will be enough people interested and passionate about owning our images in a tangible form, to help us with seeing this project through to completion. The end result will be a special limited edition book in stunning colour and quality, which every backer will get to own for themselves. There will also be a limited number of signed copies and prints available for collectors as part of the top tier rewards.
This will be a limited edition book and making it will rely on your support of this campaign. Without it the book will not be available for anyone to buy.
Throughout the Kickstarter campaign we'll be releasing more news on the progress of the book, and peeks into our shooting process and ideas.
In the meantime, you can browse more of our work together on my website: www.elegia.co

Risks and challenges
The funding goal reflects all of the costs that have been calculated for designing and printing the book, packaging, fine art prints for the top tier rewards - and fees from Kickstarter should the project be fully funded.
