Thank you for visiting our Kickstarter project. My name is Chris Dickens. My best friend Phil Morgenthaler and I created Vigilante Project as both a graphic novel and a film back in 2009. Since then Vigilante Project has developed a passionate following. We have held panels at the Anime Expo and the Long Beach Comic Con, we’ve received thousands of hits on YouTube, and we have a ton of support from fans around the world. With the film/TV side of things in the capable hands of our agent, we recently dove into creating the comics.

Vigilante Project: The Confessional is something of an anthology series. Each issue contains or continues its own story, until further down the line when some of our plots intersect.
Our central character is Father Charlie Contreras, a middle aged, Latino priest at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in New York City. However, the primary story arc is the tale of Alvin Gentry, and what he refers to as his vigilante project. Alvin enters the confessional to get something off his chest, and the rest as they say, is history.

Our first offering is a full color preview (called an ashcan) which will debut November 5th at the Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles.
Our goal is to secure large-scale distribution from one of the bigger names in comic book publishing, some of which we will be meeting and speaking with at the Expo. We created the ashcan to tell a little bit of the story and to showcase the talent of our team, however we feel that our chances of securing a publishing/distribution deal increase dramatically if we have a full issue to show in addition to the ashcan. Once made, with or without a major publisher, we expect that the sales of that book will help offset future production costs, allowing us to continue the series, putting out new issues on a regular, consistent basis.
Publishing an independent comics can be pretty expensive. Phil and I are not artists, so in addition to printing and shipping costs, we had to hire a team of artists. Chris Campana supplied pencils, Nik Poliwko contributed inks and letters, Jarrett Arthur added color, and Clayton Neal helped translate the script to comic book format. We paid for the ashcan out of pocket, but publishing Book One is out of our price range.

With your help, we are hoping to raise $3,750 to produce the first full-length book of the series, “The Guitar Hero”. This book would be an industry standard 24 pages in length. Like the ashcan it’d be full color, and would feature the same team of talented artists. The $3,750 raised would go to artist fees, printing, shipping, and Kickstarter fees.
