Frequently Asked Questions
What would happen if an engineer and an artist had a baby? It would make a Blackbox Case. We believe that there is art built into exact function. There is art in pushing bamboo to its limits and finding a product that performs perfectly. Light, strong, snug, minimalist and exact. This wakes us up in the morning and keeps us up at night: finding the limits and doing it perfectly.
We're a team of artists, engineers, and woodworkers working together to make the greatest product we can dream up. This is our absolute best, handmade with love in Golden Colorado. We believe the best way to compete with Chinese-neoprene-stuff is to be in a different league altogether. We enjoy it. And we hope you enjoy it too.Last updated:

The creator, Lance, decided to chase his childhood dream and became a pilot. In an airplane the "black box" is a crash-proof box where all the most valuable information is protected and stored.
Our motto is "always use protection"... so just don't forget that safety never takes a vacation and anything can happen to you or your machine at any given time.Last updated:
To be politically correct - we can not say yes. But as all males know... and most females should be concerned with (for their partners sake)...
"The combination of heat generated by the computers and the posture needed to balance the equipment on the lap leads to raised temperatures around the scrotum. a study has found. Past research shows that higher scrotal temperatures can damage sperm and affect fertility."
So while using a Blackbox case in what we like to call "ball saver mode" will not solve your sterility issues — it will definitely help it from occurring.
In fact... the rubber feet on the bottom side of a Blackbox case provide amazing grip for your MacBook Pro to rest on while accomplishing work in a bed, chair, airport, park or even table top.
So quit using a pillow (which provides horrible air circulation to cool your computer) and start using a Blackbox Case. It's not what this product was designed for, but provides a secondary advantage to working smarter and more comfortable.Last updated:
Yes - Living in Golden is a treat as it is also home to Coors Brewery. During the summer months the brewery is open daily from 10am to 4:30pm and closed in the winter months on Tuesdays + Wednesdays. We frequently visit the brewery... (sometimes daily) for our 3 free super cold beverages a day. This is where we conduct Blackbox Case meetings, social outings and brainstorming sessions.
If you are planning on visiting... your pledged "Welcome to the Family" card we ship you will specifically include instructions on how to get ahold of us so we can meet you at the brewery! :)Last updated:
