Hunt Master is a thrilling game of monster-hunting, deduction and bluffing for 2-4 players.
Players travel to creepy locations and hunt for creatures of the night to assist them in defeating their opponents. Their goal is to locate five monsters of a specific monster-type (Cryptid, Undead, Paranormal or Humanoid) before their opponents assemble their legion of monsters. At locations, monsters hide within Hunt Decks that also hold a variety of action cards that keep the game moving. Players secretly make decisions about what they find while exploring, using the knowledge they've gained to track their monsters and prevent opponents from locating their monsters.
What's in the box?
We've created a video to easily explain that.
First, select a MONSTER TYPE you would like to hunt. Place the corresponding reference card in front of you.
The 5 monsters of each type can be seen in the thumbnails of the right side of each reference card. All 20 monsters have unique abilities that give you advantages or trip up your opponents, once they've been located. MONSTER ABILITIES are once per game abilities that can only be used during your turn.
Set up the locations by forming a 3x3 grid. Shuffle all ACTION CARDS and MONSTER CARDS together and randomly form 9 HUNT DECKS, of at least 6 cards at each location. Players then place their pawns on starting locations.
MOVE AND HUNT or HUNT AND MOVE
Players must take MOVE ACTIONS and HUNT ACTIONS during their turns, in either order. A MOVE ACTION moves a pawn to an adjacent location (left, right, up, down). When a player takes a HUNT ACTION, he secretly looks at the top card of a HUNT DECK at his location. There are 4 things he/she may do with that card: 1) Place it in front of him if it is a MONSTER CARD that player is hunting. 2) If it is an opponent's MONSTER CARD or an ACTION CARD, he may place it at the bottom of the HUNT DECK without revealing any information about it. 3) If it is an ACTION CARD, he may choose to discard it and do what the card says. 4) If it is an opponent's MONSTER CARD, he may choose to reveal it and use the MONSTER ABILITY, then place it at the bottom of the HUNT DECK. (NOTE - In a game with less than 4 players, if a monster is found that doesn't match the TYPE of a hunter in the game, treat that card like an ACTION CARD. Discard it and do what it says.)
Track Markers are a fun mechanic that provide an additional level of strategy. As you travel to locations, you will discover that some of the Action Cards have a Sasquatch footprint icon on them. Thematically, that signifies that you've picked up the track of a monster and you will gain a Track Marker. When you collect 3 Track Markers, you may cash them in to activate one of three Special Abilities unique to Track Markers. Track Markers will be represented by cards with Sasquatch footprints on them, unless we meet our stretch goal to turn the mini cards into sturdy footprint markers. We love the idea of collecting Sasquatch footprints and the Track Markers provided many hours of entertaining games during play-testing.
Who is Hunt Master for?
If you enjoy the thrill of outwitting your opponents and tripping them up in particular situations, then Hunt Master is for you. The heart of the game is outguessing the other players and using the knowledge you've gained from exploration to throw them off the track of finding their monsters.
This is a light weight game. Non-gamers and casuals are able to pick it up and have a blast within no time. For the more experienced gamers out there, this is a great starter to a game night, a nice lunch-break, or a convention game.
The theme is playfully dark, but all content will be family-friendly. We have found the game can be enjoyed by most kids that can read.

The Art of Elf
Elf was born in Florida, but spent his entire life living in North Carolina. He has been infatuated with art for a long as he can remember. He has made a living through art-related jobs his entire life - painting murals, air-brushing t-shirts, and creating a lot of comic book- related art. Elf also has a passion for portraits and realism. Recently, Greg Nicotero (a special make-up efforts creator, television producer and director) bought a few of his paintings, including art from a project he was working on, The Walking Dead. Elf has been tattooing since 2009 and has found his dream job at a shop in California called Emerald Tattoo. We are so grateful that this amazing artist decided to get involved with Hunt Master. We are including his one-of-a-kind, original artwork on Hunt Master at different pledge levels.
The Ambition of Ray Franks
Ray Franks has been a successful entrepreneur since 1996, when his family opened a chain of video rental stores. From those earnings, he opened the Comic Monstore in 2003, which has become a premiere destination for comic books, games and toys in North Carolina. The brick and mortar business makes him easily accessible via phone, email, or just by dropping by. Ray Franks is also known by the stage name, Abby Normal, and he performs in a horror-influenced rock band called Graveyard Boulevard. Since 2003, Graveyard Boulevard has released 4 full-length albums, with a 5th due out in December, 2018. The band has toured much of eastern United States, including several shows with his former bandmate, Wednesday 13, and punk rock legends, The Misfits.
Risks and challenges
This will be the first game we have Kickstarted. However, we've taken our time to educate ourselves in a sincere effort to make sure things operate as smoothly as possible. Your trust is extremely important to us. We will communicate all updates in a timely manner during the project.
We intend to work with Panda Games Manufacturing to make the best version of the game possible. We also intend to work with a fulfillment company to get the game to your neck of the woods.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
