After years of traveling the globe, sourcing, blending, and formulating- we're excited to share with you a delicious healing botanical tea- Organic Turmeric Honeybush. The first in our line of proprietary organic, herbal tea blends.
Our potent- yet caffeine free- blend of turmeric, rooibos, ginger, honeybush, cinnamon and black pepper is magic in a cup- a delicious elixir for everyday living.
Turmeric - Used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb.
Rooibos - Indigenous to South Africa’s mountainous region just north of Cape Town. Known to have high levels of antioxidants that support the immune system.
Ginger - Prized for its medicinal and culinary properties for thousands of years, it is a good source of vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, copper, and manganese. It is listed as an herbal medicine that can settle an upset stomach, prevent nausea and even act as a pain reliever.
Honeybush - Honeybush, a sibling of Rooibos, has a smell and taste reminiscent of honey. Like its sibling, it’s a natural source of many antioxidants.
Cinnamon - Cinnamon trees grow in tropical rainforests, and can be found in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, in Southern India, China and Indonesia.
Black Pepper - The world’s most traded spice, known and used for both its flavor and as a traditional medicine. It was so prized that it was even used as currency as early as the 5th century.
Bee Pollen - A pellet of field-gathered flower pollen packed by worker honeybees containing honey bee secretions (don't really love that word- secretions) that break down the walls of flower pollen grains and render the nutrients more readily available.
For over a decade HOUSE of WARIS has been captivating its audience with an escape from the ordinary. I travel far and wide in search of cultural treasures, rare crafts and transcendent experiences to share with friends. These adventures, across the globe have given me a deeper insight and appreciation for community and a purposeful approach to living.
Upon returning home, I found more and more people hungering for time, space and meaning in their lives. I couldn’t help but remember how, wherever I went, I was offered tea, a moment to slow down. I began to see a clear connection between tea, plants and our collective health and wellbeing.
How did all of this begin you ask? Well, almost a decade ago, we started with a simple pop-up tea room under the High Line in New York City. Since then, we’ve started selling teas to some of our favorite restaurants in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New Orleans. More towns to come (tell your favorite restaurant about us).
HOUSE of WARIS Botanicals was catalyzed by the radical little idea of examining what thoughtful living means in our world today. We care about how we treat our bodies and the planet and want to affect positive change within our community and beyond.
For the past few years I have been visiting farms and tea estates, learning about sustainable sourcing, developing exciting botanical blends, and working with herbalists to make you something special.
As HOUSE of WARIS expanded and delved further into the world of tea, I realized our true purpose was much greater: we had to reimagine our relationship with wellness.
So, for the last five years, we’ve been in the lab with our team of herbalists thoughtfully working away to formulate an extraordinary line of healing botanicals that would enhance the health and quality of life of our community.
I’ve worked with artisans from all over the world for almost two decades. Making beautiful things to behold, treasure and share.
This time I went local and went up to beautiful Hudson New York and found an incredible ceramist to work with to make our containers.
We’re proud and lucky to say Aleah makes each and every one of our ceramic canisters (they’re part of the rewards!)
Besides the sourcing and blending I wanted to put careful thought and consideration into our packaging. Instead of using the same tin or box that every other tea and herbals company uses we started from scratch and designed our own tin. It took a long time to create something so simple.
First I was going to put it in a box. But creating more garbage in the world really bothered me. So I wanted to create something that you wouldn’t want to throw away. Something you would put jelly beans in, rubber bands (do people still use rubber bands?), pencils, widgets, and knick knacks. But we cut all of that out. It’s just the beautiful tin you see here.
If you reuse your tin, you’ve helped us eliminate waste. Plus, the sachets are compostable!
As with everything we do, we hold fast to the idea of considered consumption and infuse this sense of social responsibility into our daily practices. Our ingredients are always sourced responsibly and are organic. Our packaging was designed to create little to no waste. The sachet is compostable. And if you reuse the tin (which we insist) you will help us with the ultimate goal of creating zero waste!
The Kickstarter community is filled with people coming together to create a better world for all of us to live in. That’s why we turn to you first. Your support with help us push a new wave of mindful products into the world.
A better world is only possible with a better you and me. Funds from this campaign will go toward covering the cost of our ingredients and manufacturing the packaging at scale. We can’t wait to share our passion and blends with you.
Risks and challenges
We are aware this project may encounter some risks - we have spent a great deal of time and effort to establish and maintain strong relationships with our herbalists and distributers. We are confident we will be able to deliver rewards on time, though if any issues arise, it is important to us that we keep our communication clear and up-to-date regarding delivery times. Thank you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
