On the streets and in the alleyways the message spreads. Beyond the limits of human perception are other Realms. Places of fantastic beauty and infinite horrors. Drawn by the promise of a better world, a new Eden, they move through the shadows. A single prayer on their lips.
This is the world of Fractured Kingdom, a table top Roleplaying Game (RPG) of mysticism and conspiracy in the dark future. Players take on the roles of the Lucid, those that have touched one of the four Outer Realms: The Dark, Grave, Slumber and Verdant. No longer fully human, changed by their experience, they are able to channel the supernatural forces of their Realm.
Prized possessions for powerful shadow governments known as Baronies. They wage secret wars over control of both the Lucid and Mundane. Those with the wit and the will hide. Some join Covens, small bands of Lucid for protection. Others try to isolate themselves. But politics and power are rarely so easily kept at bay.
Using the new Open Action System Players can take on virtually any role, be it a gang banger that’s seen the light, the grandmother that fell too far after her husband’s death, the child lost in the woods and taken in by the forest, or anything else you can imagine. The Open Action System provides a dynamic rule set allowing characters that haven’t spent their lives in battle to play essential roles in the world of Fractured Kingdom.
The core book provides everything you’ll need to get started including: Generation, with hundreds of options to customize your character. Essential setting details including a look at the largest Baronies. Dozens of NPCs, and creatures, both Mundane and Supernatural. Detailed artwork. And an introductory adventure to bring new players into the world of Fractured Kingdom.
Artwork has been provided by Adam Sward, and editing and layout are being done by indie game veteran Eloy Lasanta, game concept and design by, Dave Silva. We are in the last stages of development. We need your help to get through final push to production. Backers can receive copies of the core book, have their characters featured on the Fractured Kingdom website with illustrations done by the game’s artist. Join a private game or discussion on the creation of Fractured Kingdom, and receive a poster designed exclusively for Kickstarter. We invite you to join us as we step between the shadows into the unseen world of Fractured Kingdom.
Risks and challenges
This is our first release and we want to make it the best possible. We've had some loyal followers from conventions and our web presence but it's time to get the word out. Because Fractured Kingdom is a new and different setting that's not quite horror, and not quite cyberpunk there may be confusion as to what the game's about.
To help bring people into the world of Fractured Kingdom we've set up a Google+ page where we'll be running games for backers and discussing the making of the world. We want to get people involved in the world of Fractured Kingdom. To enable this the Fractured Kingdom website allows members to post directly to articles to help move discussion on topics and areas of interest.
You support will help us get through the final stages of editing and allow us to bring you a new world, with unique places, perils, and stories to explore.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
