Lean, Mean & Green post-production
Industrial collapse scars cities around the globe. Urban heroes are transforming their cities into more sustainable communities.
Lean, Mean & Green serves as a response to the images of Detroit blight that have been seen around the world. Our film has already been an inspiration to others and a validation for the work the people in Detroit and other cities are accomplishing.
Risks and challenges
We’ve been attempting to make a world-class, big-budget, big-story documentary without having the financing in place for a million-dollar effort. We’ve been able to secure deals on equipment and the producers have all made personal financial sacrifices in order to get this story told. Crew members have cut their rates to make it happen and we've been shooting on a compressed schedule. The film is 90% shot and 75% funded. We can’t finish the edit without your help! $25,000 is the minimum we need in order to produce a finished film by the March premiere date we’re working toward.
Funds raised will go toward paying our editor, sound editing and mixing and finally, color correction.
You can help!
Email friends and family with a link to our Kickstarter page, like us and share it on facebook, post it to an online forum, or tell people who you think might be interested in the film about the campaign. We know that there are a lot of interested people out there who want to see what the solutions look like on screen!
We've had success in securing some corporate support and foundation funding toward the production of the film. Given the enthusiastic reception of our work-in-progress, the producers decided to move forward with production in Europe, even though this would sacrifice the funds required to edit and finish the film. The European perspective was an important part of the book that inspired the film and connects the stories globally.
We continue to write grants and talk to foundations about supporting the work. Any funding beyond the $25,000 will go towards ongoing screenings, community engagement around the project, and the numerous film festival opportunities. Our goal is to have this story help shape a new POSITIVE dialogue around the transformation going on in post-industrial cities. We'd like to be able to attend as many film festivals in person to continue the ongoing dialogue the film creates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
