Super Academy is back!
Hello, and greetings! Whether you are a returning fan, or have just found this series/project, welcome! After the success of our four episode Season One, we are back to make Season Two!
You can watch all of Season One here for free (thanks to the help of our season one Kickstarter backers):
What is Super Academy
In a world where superheroes exist, and have to get jobs as superheroes, they need to get training to be competitive in the superhero job market. Super Academy is the premier school for such training. Our cast of characters must navigate life as both superheroes and students, thwarting the plans of super villains and studying for finals simultaneously.
What's in store for Season 2?
We have two brand new original episodes planned to bring you. If we hit our stretch goals we will be able to make more than the two planned episodes. We will be continuing the adventures of Powerkid, Darkcop, Glyph, and all your other favorite villains and heroes. We need your help to #staysuper
What kind of rewards can I get?
We have several outstanding choices for you. Postcards, digital downloads, Kickstarter exclusive blu-rays packed with bonus features, vocal cameos, and producer credits! We do want to highlight two very unique items available for this Kickstarter drive only:
Art Poster from Christopher Jones
Christopher Jones is a comic book artist who helped out with Season One (can you spot his cameo?). His credits include Young Justice, Parallel Man, Doctor Who, Batman 66, and more. Chris is creating a poster for Season Two that we will reveal sometime during the campaign. You can support the show for just $50 and get yourself one of these one of a kind posters. But don't wait too long, supplies are limited!
3D Printed Super Academy Souvenir
We have access to a cool new 3D printer and will be making SA keychains and fridge magnets - you can back us for $30 and get one of these limited run items.
Why are you raising more money this time?
When we embarked on Season One we were helped by a legion of friends and colleagues who did high-quality work for no pay. Ethically we are dedicated to making sure everyone who works on season two gets a fair day rate or contract rate for their work. We also put in a significant amount of our own money to cover expenses we couldn't have calculated for, and we want to make sure we don't have to skip meals to pay for the project. Yes film is art, but plenty of people make their living doing art, and we want to contribute to that. As a result, our budget per episode has gone up.
Our planned Kickstarter goal covers Kickstarter fees, credit card fees and backer reward fulfillment, as well as our production budget. Here are our stretch goals:
$18K, 3rd Episode - A Musical: This is something we have always wanted to do, and it would be a real treat with the characters we have. We would use the additional money to hire choreographers and musicians to deliver an unforgettable episode at this level.
$22K, 4th Episode - Action-oriented: We had some great moments with fight and stunt work in Season One, and we'd love to take that to the next level once again. We would use the additional money to upgrade the quality of our stunts and special effects work at this level.
$26K, Gear Upgrade - If we reach this level, we will be upgrading our camera and lighting, increasing the quality and cinematic style. Not only would this mean Super Academy jumps a big step closer to looking like a big-budget Hollywood movie, but it is something which would benefit all future projects by Hot Chocolate Media!
Risks and challenges
Film faces several challenges, most of which are time related. Unexpected delays in post-production, weather delays on location, injuries to actors or crew, and more can delay the time table.
That said, Hot Chocolate Media has successfully delivered two seasons of webseries entertainment (Fang & Talon, and SA Season One) and we are confident we have the experience and know how to pull this off.
That being said making a film is a long process. For two episode we will be looking at 2-3 weeks of filming, plus and additional 3-6 months of post production. Our plan is to start filming this fall and a optimistic release of May of 2018.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
