About this project
The Laptop EP came out in the summer of 2004. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been recording and touring as MC Lars for almost ten years. Never in any of my wildest dreams did I think I could take this as far as I have and I owe it all to you, the loyal fans. Thank you.
Crowdfunding is an incredible opportunity for independent artists like myself who chose to forge their own paths over signing with major labels -- to give their loyal core of fans something special and unique. I’m turning to y’all again to help me complete and distribute my fourth post-punk laptop rap album, the Zombie Dinosaur LP!
This project is a return to the happy, high energy, punk rock inspired songs of my first two albums (the Graduate and This Gigantic Robot Kills), picking up on some of the narrative threads of some of the characters with which you may already be familiar. We’ll see what happened to “Hipster Girl” on a track called “Hipster Mom,” where our heroine leaves Brooklyn, gets her MBA, and has a kid. Hearts that Hate will reappear as well, where we will find that former frontman Blake has started to produce electronic music and is trying to make a name for himself in the EDM scene on a song called “Signing Dubstep”. Suburban Legends and I will rejoin forces on a ska song about a zombie Tyrannosaurus, complete with a classic 90s ska horn arrangement. This album also includes a few lit-hop tracks as well, with songs about Jack Kerouac and Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Confirmed guests include Watsky, Schäffer the Darklord, Mega Ran, Adam WarRock, Shael Riley and of course the Suburban Legends!
I am offering a lot of unique incentives with this campaign There are chances to be a featured guest performer on the album, to own one of my Zelda cartridge chains (as worn in the photo above), to star in one of the music videos, to get an acrylic painting or a personalized drawing, a chance own one of the computers on which I created one of my previous albums, and even a chance to have me produce and co-write a song with you. Also, for the first time ever, I’m offering the opportunity to pre-order the album on cassette tape (in case you wanted to play the album in your parents' 80s station wagon).
As I recently said on Facebook, if you've ever bought anything from me or supported me in any way over the past ten years, I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. You're the reason why I get to keep doing this and why I get to live my dream. No label, just friends. With your help, I can keep creating the songs and albums from my hear that I know you will love.
Thanks again for checking out my new Kickstarter; I hope you can find a pledge level that best suits your needs. Anything helps and I can’t wait to master and send you guys this awesome album!
Peace and thanks from your DIY rapper homie,
P.S. Big thanks to team Brosis (Max Isaacson and Morgan Faust) for creating the great video above and to Preston Spurlock for his awesome dinosaur animations that played during the chase sequence. You can learn more about Max and Morgan's amazing work here, and you can find out more about Preston's artistic freshness on his Tumblr.
P.P.S. Below are some images related to this project: some of the confirmed guest artists on this LP, an example of one of the acrylic paintings you can can get (and me painting it), a close-up shot of the Zelda bling, and some of the characters we will be revisiting us on this album (Hipster Girl and Blake from Hearts that Hate).

Risks and challenges
As you all have seen from my last two campaigns, I always put my 100% of myself into my work. The potential risks and challenges will be overcome by my dedication to making the best album I can and getting it to you as quickly as possible.
When this project is funded, I will be working 12 hours a day on overseeing the physical mixing and mastering of the final tracks, designing the CD and booklet, making sure the album cover artwork is awesome, storyboarding and filming the first video, making sure you get the digital downloads before anyone else, and getting all of the physical reward items together to ship as quickly as possible.
Thanks again for your support - it means the world to me. I promise not to let you down! :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
