The Scene

Real Ale and Craft Beer is going through somewhat of a resurgence, and it's people like ourselves who are at the forefront of the revolution.

The UK’s brewing scene is as diverse as it is large.  Breweries young and old are experimenting with their craft, and in the process producing some truly fantastic beers.  It’s not gone unnoticed either; establishments across the country are getting involved, stocking kegs, casks and bottles from the local community and further afield.

We too share this passion for the craft, and love the thought of refining an idea into something physical.  It's true of a pint and should be true of a publication.

The Magazine

As it stands, there isn't a publication that is truly representative of the burgeoning brewing scene within the UK.

Hop & Barley is a bi-monthly publication that speaks to brewers and drinkers alike.  A curated collection of articles from all corners of the industry, and one that seeks to indulge within the resurgence and celebrate this fantastic community.

Including an eclectic range of features from breweries, events, food, home brewing, malt whisky musings and a whole lot more on the brewing scene.

For the past year, we have been crafting the brand, meeting with brewers, attending many a great festival and, of course, drinking great beer.

We've now reached the point at which we need your help.  With articles at the ready we’re looking to raise £3000 and take the first issue to print.  This run will be distributed amongst the country’s many fine establishments as well as landing on the doorsteps of our generous contributors.

Risks and challenges

We’re confident we can deliver the first issue, and have made every effort to accurately budget for the cost of production.

We’ve also invested a lot of time into scheduling the first issue, although we cannot guarantee that we won't run into production delays, we’re working closely with Cambrian printers to ensure the first issue remains on schedule for late May.

We have the majority of the editorial in place, and have a great team of collaborators who have kindly agreed to contribute to the publication, we just need a little financial backing to take the first issue to print and cover the cost of the rewards.
