About this project
The episode workbooks will include illustrated example stories, lessons, achievement exercises, skills trainings, and fun parts that go along with each of the episodes to "bring home" each of the principles of Honor and give Honor Mentors and their young dudes and/or dudettes a road map for becoming competent and qualified in the principles of Honor. Upon completing the exercises and lessons in all 5 books, the young dude will have earned the "Awesome Honor Patch". The Honor Mentor upon completion will elevate to the status of "Honor Mentor Prime". Upon completing the workbooks again, the Honor Mentor will rise to the level of "Honor Mentor Super Prime". Have you ever heard of something so epic? Probably not. These books and this incentive rewards program for the understanding and competency in the principles of Honor is a unique program that strengthens the bond between Honor Mentors and their dudes or dudettes and allows both Honor Mentor and Dude/Dudette the opportunity to become Sensei-esk masters in each of the principles of Honor. OooooohhhaaAhhhhhhh(awesome choir audio queue in).

Honor Park Day Package:
Andrew has been working for the last year on developing Honor Park. He is the creator, director, producer, set designer, effects artist, and show host. He already has a truckload of content, and just needs the time and resources to edit and release it. Andrew's background is in game making with Microsoft Games Studio Xbox, and in feature animation with DreamWorks Animation Studios. He and the Honor Park are located on the San Francisco peninsula.
Why a show for young dudes?
The core philosophy of the show is that each young dude is an irreplaceable, one-of-a-kind, individual. This means they are extremely rare, which in turn makes them infinitely valuable. Honor Park recognizes this value in each young dude, and exerts its maximum effort to give them the care and focus they deserve. Honor Park believes that when a young dude understands the principles of honor, he can become his best self. In the show, "Honor" is defined by 5 main categories: Honesty, Chivalry, Nonviolence, gaining useful Skills, and Strength. ("Strength" is defined as physical and mental health.)
So what's the goal?
The goal is to launch Honor Park the show. A pilot season of five, 20 minute episodes to be released September, 2014.
So where would the money go?
- Final editing of episode 1
- Filming & editing episodes 2-5
- Travel & crew expenses for episodes 2-5
- Improving film equipment, editing equipment, & software
- Building materials to finalize set
- Marketing the show
- 3 city launch in September for the premiere
Reasons to contribute to Honor Park:
There's a lack of good media in general, and an ENORMOUS lack of good media for young boys. Honor Park is very passionate about creating good media for them that they actually want to watch. The show sees a young dude as a future decision maker of our world, and respects him and prepares him as such.
Honor Park the Show:
The episodes center around principles of honor. They also include things young dudes love to do such as games, sports, making stuff, and learning things. The show demonstrates how honor is woven throughout every part of our lives, and teaches how to apply it in our modern world. The show also brings up historical and modern examples of honor being abandoned, and the consequences that followed.
In addition to the portions of the show dedicated to "Honor", other segments of the show include: "SportsManShip", "Dudes & Dads", "Creator Class", "Learning from & Respecting your Elders", "Crews", "Making Stuff", "Honor Man", "Video Game Class", "What Girls Think", and "Your News".
What about the girls?
One of Honor Park's central themes is respect for girls and women. Honor Park believes that a woman will be impacted for good as the principle of Modern Chivalry is understood. Honor Park makes great effort to educate viewers about Modern Chivalry.
The role of Honor Park regarding advice giving:
Honor Park should not be confused with giving advice but rather it educates, informs, and entertains viewers about Honor in a fun way. The show and Andrew do not give advice for what the viewer should or should not do with the content contained in the show. Honor Park leaves that up to the viewer to use their best judgment in making decisions.
Risks and challenges
The main risk and challenge for the completion of the Honor Park mini series would be needing more time than is projected to finish the episodes. In any creative work, especially filmmaking, this is often one of the most common challenges. Honor Park will do everything in its power to avoid this pitfall by adhering to a budget and mile-marker time line. Honor Park will keep everyone up to date and notified if any challenge should arise, and will present a plan of action for solving the problem and going forward with the project. Given the current work already completed, Honor Park is very confident in being able to accomplish the mini series.
Above all, Honor Park stands for and adheres to honesty. Honor Park will be transparent with any major setbacks that arise in the process of this project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
I read you were planning on doing a 3 city launch, how are you planning on launching it in those cities? And what cities are you doing it in?
The 3 planned cities are in Northern California: San Francisco. Southern California: San Diego (which includes a launch in LA as well). Then to Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah. These cities were chosen based on my ability, the logistics, and contacts I have in each city to organize an event in those cities that would truly be an honorable and awesome thank you party, and premiere for the backers, young dudes, and their families who made this happen. All would be invited.
The launch in these cities is actually one of the things I'm most looking forward to. I feel like grass roots, face to face, premiering and launching of the show about honor is really how this show will meet the huge audience that is waiting for media like Honor Park. The direct connection with people and young dudes is my favorite way to communicate and have fun learning about Honor.
If things go well, my super plan would be to go up to Seattle and Vancouver where I also have many contacts and go down the entire west coast. Depending on how the fundraiser goes I'll hit as many cities as I can and give the best premiere I can for the backers who made it happen. As well as every and any young dude and dudette who wants to come with their families.
If it goes really well, I would love to come and do a premiere on the east coast in either Florida or New York. I think I could put one together in either place to reward the backers on the east coast and let the the young dudes of the east coast experience Honor Park as if it was in their own backyard.
The city launches would include premiering the first episode, a Honor Park music show, and events for young dudes/dudettes and Honor Mentors(parents) to do what we do at the honor park.
I'm really looking forward to making these happen and there would be no better future vision I could envision for Honor Park, then giving young dudes in cities all around America a show 100% dedicated to them.
Are you looking to have these more as webisodes, or are you looking at another form of distribution?
I'll start by releasing them on www.honorpark.tv (Check out the website). As well as the youTube and the Vimeo Channel created for the show. This will make it so that everyone can have access to them and watch them. All 5 episodes will be available to all the contributors.
I've also been in contact with a friend of mine at Hulu, as well as with Netflix(Netflix is up here in the bay area so it was a really close contact). Usually very little comes of things like this unless you have an audience for a show. Honor Park's audience is just beginning to build. I believe the audience will begin growing as people see the show. Distributors and content aggregators will start to take notice very quick as they often do.
As I start finishing episode 1 here in the next month I'll start showing it to networks such as Nickelodeon, Disney, and others to see if it sparks interest. A friend of mine at Disney just contributed to the project right after this question came up amazingly.
I'll be very excited and happy to keep everyone posted as distribution becomes more concrete.
To sum up, we have a great site www.honorpark.tv, youtube channel, and vimeo channel to distribute through, however the long term goal is to put it on network television. It's been the goal to get it on network television since the beginning. We'd like as many young dudes to have access to it as possible and network television and online distribution through Netflix or Hulu are all great opportunities that we'd like to see as a home for Honorpark. I'll be working on all these connections and keep everyone up to date on how things line up.
