Home Ice is a stunning collection of classic Minnesota hockey rink photographs. The rinks are presented in their purest form - empty, quiet, serene - they are brought to life through the stunning images and the stories within these pages.
This project has truly been the a labor of love. It was started over 10 years ago but the idea was planted in me 22 years ago. In 1997 my parents gave me a framed black and white photo of The Warroad Memorial Arena. I never thought about rinks as a subject to be photographed until I saw that photo and it left an everlasting impression on me.
I’m asking for your help to publish this incredible collection of Minnesota Hockey Arena photographs in an exquisitely printed coffee table book. It will feature over 65 rinks from all over the state. I focused on Iron range, Duluth/north shore area, Northwest Minnesota, Central Minnesota, East Metro, West Metro and Southern Minnesota. When they are all brought together in one place you can truly appreciate the spectrum of rinks that the state has to offer.
All of the books printed for this campaign will be Limited First Edition. The book will contain a unique thank you page listing the names of all backers at the $55 level and up.
Please consider the $55 level of support that will serve as an advance purchase of the book.

'I think everyone should publish a book- we all have a unique story to tell.' - Lindsay Bednar
I agree and thats why I'm teaming up with Rodney K Press and Lindsay Bednar to help with all things publishing. I've known Lindsay since the days of Southwest elementary school and from growing up on Lake Pokegama. She is a real talent and I'm excited about working with her.
Matt Palmer is a Minneapolis based graphic designer. I work with at him at my real job and he is one of the most talented people I know. This book is in great hands with him leading the art direction. https://dribbble.com/mttplmr
Risks and challenges
I'm confident I can reach my financial goal to publish this labor of love.
I've helped out on many successful Kickstarter projects in the past and now it's time to make mine happen. We are currently in the process and of laying out the book and talking to with the printer to lock down a print timeline. I foresee no risk in completing this project in the timeframe indicated and it being the highest quality possible.
All backers will be kept apprised of the book's status as it moves along via regular updates. I can’t wait to see this book come to life and actually hold it in my hands!
Lets do this!
I'm happy to answer any questions at all regarding this project.
