UPDATE: THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED US ACHIEVE OUR FUNDING GOAL OF $1500. HOWEVER WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP. HELP US TO REACH $2500 AND WE'LL BE ABLE TO BRING OUR ENTIRE BAND (NOT JUST MICHAEL AND AARON) TO THE WEST COAST.

Hi everyone! We have a neat idea for a collaborative performance with music and video that I hope might interest you.

We are Holy Spirits, a Brooklyn-based band that performs around the city. This past summer we released an EP, "The Afternoon's Blood" that was well-received by the blogosphere. Among those who took the time to listen was the motion collage artist, Nathaniel Whitcomb of www.thinkorsmile.com. Quite unexpectedly and to our great delight, Nathaniel surprised us with a collage video of the title track from our EP. It was so gorgeous and unique that we asked if he would be interested in rendering all the tracks into motion collages.

In relation, we have been speaking with a couple of blogger friends in Los Angeles and San Francisco (www.smokedontsmoke.com in LA, and www.seetheleaves.blogspot.com in SF). They have offered to help us set up and promote shows in those cities in January with other bands on the bill. Nathaniel expressed interest in coming along and performing with us by projecting and manipulating his real time video collages during our set. We thought this would be an amazing experience, as did our SF and LA friends. Our plan is to perform the EP with Nathaniel and debut some new material as well.

We are planning two shows here in Brooklyn, and are raising funds to take this show out West. Our goal is to reach 1,500 dollars to pay for equipment, show merch, space rental, and travel expenses. You can contribute as little as $3, though please take a look at the tantalizing rewards we are offering. I think you'll soon find yourself digging through your couch cushions to pay for your own Holy Spirits recorded cover song and signed Think or Smile collage print. We've never embarked on anything like this, but are thrilled at the prospect realizing one of the biggest highlights of our musical career. Hope to see you in California!
