HOLO 2 – The Grand Tour
Dear Kickstarter supporters,
If you follow our HOLO updates on Twitter, Facebook, or the ‘magazine’ section over at CreativeApplications.Net (CAN), you’ve heard the big news already: once again, 226 pages are laid out, polished, and ready to go to press (in February). And once again, they provide fascinating views of emerging trajectories in art, science, and technology: in HOLO 2 we encounter seven extraordinary artists and designers (Ryoichi Kurokawa, Vera Molnar, Jürg Lehni, Tale of Tales, Timo Arnall, Katie Paterson, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer); we inspect unlikely sites of creative collaboration (CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, the Smithsonian Institute’s mineral collection, or SETI’s radio telescopes); we discuss key tools in the making (The Oculus Rift) and, at the heart of this issue, conduct a sweeping thematic investigation (of chance, causality, and prediction). More than forty amazing writers, photographers, illustrators, and designers (cover artist Karsten Schmidt, for example) have joined us in producing HOLO 2 – and we couldn’t be happier with the magazine that emerged.
