Ten steps forward, one step back

As many of you know, we had a date today – HOLO 1 was scheduled to ship on September 2nd. Unfortunately it didn't. A combination of unforeseen events beyond our control has complicated the last few weeks of production, forcing us to detour and improvise. Thankfully we’re back on track. Still, HOLO 1 will be several weeks late. With all hurdles cleared we now expect to release in October. Having learned our lesson though, we’re going to hold off announcing a new shipping date until it's 100% and set in stone.

While Kickstarter project shipping delays are a real cliché, we aren’t taking your incredible support for granted. In recognition of your patience we’ve worked with our favourite ‘anticipatory design studio’ (and HOLO 1 contributors) N O R M A L S on a very special gift that will be shipped with every copy of the magazine:

N O R M A L, like a first dip into the Stream is a mini-RPG fold-out poster that speculates about future mutations of the web. Designers Cedric Flazinski and Aurélien Michon foresee an evolved web that is “a maze of information so vast that navigating through it is best described as an existential journey”. Their illustrated ‘choose your own adventure’ game is an invitation to explore this media labyrinth – in print. Smitten with the idea of techno-futures and paper trails, we feel this playful take on 'new perspectives' (the theme of the issue's idea section) is a great bonus and – like HOLO 1 – worth waiting for.

Thank you so much for your patience! We’ll be in touch again when we can smell the ink.

A note of assurance to subscribers: HOLO 2 is unaffected by this delay and remains on track for a spring 2014 release. In fact, editorial development has already begun.

How's that ink smelling? Getting closer? :)

Hi Chris & Javier, thanks for your support and encouragement.

Javier: Given that our sister blog CreativeApplications.Net is super active (4-6 posts a week), a digital version of the publication is not a priority for us. We do plan to publish a bit of our HOLO content there though. A tablet app or digital archive is something we'd like to tackle, but we're quite content with putting all our effort into print for the time being.

Will there be a digital edition of the magazine available? Perhaps we could get a sneak peak of a story before the shipping happens?
So excited to get this in my hands!!! Thanks for the update.
