Surprise Device Unboxed

Our pledge about keeping our heads down notwithstanding, this Kickstarter moment is too special not to share. Remember how we beamed about how wonderful it is, whenever a campaign reward is delivered? Well, the documentation of our final gift nicely proves our point: Niklas Roy, self-proclaimed "inventor of useless things" from Berlin, offered to craft a one-of-a-kind ‘surprise device' for a generous HOLO supporter. The lucky backer was Matti Niinimäki, an Arduino dealer and electronic sound performer (stage name: “Månsteri” – English: “monster”) from Finland. His personalized 'surprise device': an Arduino compatible algorithmic 6-bit sound synthesizer, playfully titled Micro Modular Monster. The quirky lo-fi instrument was recently hand-delivered to Helsinki – and thanks to Niklas and his girlfriend we have a (must watch) video:

We’d like to extend our thanks to both Niklas and Matti! If you want to learn more about the Micro Modular Monster, check out the detailed documentation Niklas posted to his archives. To build your own, download the available schematics (bottom of the page).

Have a Monster weekend, everyone!

      Ok, that's pretty cool.
