Greetings from North Hollywood!
My name is Ryan Stockstad and I'm making a short horror movie.
Almost two years ago I directed a 6 minute long '48 hour film project' called 'A Tale of Two Zombies'. Afterward, the writer (Jon Rosenberg), the composer (Ryan Orvis) and I decided that the collaboration was fruitful enough that we wanted to make another movie without all of the constraints of having to do everything in two days! A friend of mine (Garon Cockrell) had self-published some short horror stories so I asked him if he'd let me make one into a movie. He was thrilled so Jon and I dove in and began adapting 'Eggs' as our next project.
Jon and I made a lot of changes but the main thread is the same - a lonely, abandoned woman in a small town has fallen through the cracks and begins hearing voices. This is a woman whose family has all either left or died and she simply hasn't felt loved or needed in a very long time. It doesn't take long before she begins to believe that her dead son is speaking to her. This motivates her to take action for the first time in years. Unfortunately, without any real support network, she eventually snaps and things go very, very badly.
Tonally, I'm going for a small town, Stephen King horror vibe. The story is fairly bleak and depressing, and while there are fantastic elements and some bloody special effects, it's mostly sad and serious.
There's a subtle subtext here about the political climate in our country right now, with occupy movements and people losing their jobs and their safety nets, programs being cut, etc. It's sort of a cautionary tale about not looking out for each other, although it's not overtly political. Thematically, however, that's what I'm interested in exploring here.
I've assembled an incredible cast and crew and I'm incredibly thrilled to bring this movie to life with their help! Be sure to check out our credits on IMDB:
Lynn Lowry (Shivers, The Crazies, Cat People)

My goal is to have a contention film for Screamfest 2012 and that means the film must be finished and submitted by August. I have a lot of work to do and I need money to make it happen!
I'm asking for a minimum of $12,000, however that really only gets the ball rolling. With that small of a budget I will need to find other sources of funding or pay thousands out of pocket to finish the film. I really need at least $15,000 to make the movie on the cheap. The cast and locations all cost money and I'll need to rent equipment, pay for props, wardrobe and expensive special effects. $20,000 means I can make the film without cutting corners. $25,000 means I can breathe easy and hopefully pay everyone involved with the project!
If you like independent cinema... If you like horror movies... if you like the cast... PLEASE consider chipping in! Even a small donation helps and every little bit adds up.
I'm incredibly excited about this project and I think it's an important film. Please help me bring it to life!
