Project photo by: Ray Larose
Every single person who backs this project will have their name or alias in the liner notes. I'll be sure to ask you how you'd like your name to appear in the survey at the end. This way you can read your own name whilst listening to an album you helped bring to the world.

I'm floored. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Imagine if you could go back 3 years in your timeline and hang out with your younger self. Not to give advice or to warn yourself about future events – but just to listen. Listen to your/their own song from then. When you hear their “story of now” you catch things you thought you forgot or even meant to have forgotten. Nothing from your present time can distract you once they start talking because you have been brought there - completely. All the smells, colours and scenery come rushing back - tidal.
The sounds of that day/night and the gut feelings are on their back foot wearing exclamation points. You get it. You fully understand. YOU WERE THERE after all.
You and your newly re/acquainted younger self wonder if you both can fold time again to visit your younger self from a few years before that. It worked! Now you BOTH meet you from 6 years ago and listen to the you’s “story of now”.
Some stories make you laugh, others are embarrassing, some reveal wounds you thought had long been scarred over but they all demand your attention and you ALL willingly give it. After all, they are all you. There are THREE of you so far and the yous are in it
for the long haul. Folding time upon itself, together. Adding one more you from whenever you all last were. Going deeper and listening.
Whenever the yous go back in time, your selves go farther in together building your family of listeners until there are many versions of you listening to the littlest you’s “story of now”. The story that has been silently guiding you through your whole life hiding in your amygdala - with a megaphone.
You all look at your hands and each other's faces. How they stayed the same, but different. Silver linings shine brightly through the cracks and together, as one big family, everyone listens in silence.
You have all spent a goodly amount of time - together. What now?
It’s time for all the yous and you to go back to everyone’s respective ‘now’ - with all that medicine.
You break the rules and take everyone back to "your time".
Just for a short time.
Extracting this medicine has be quite an exercise like the sweaty, I give up kind of exercise but I didn't give up, not for too long each time anyway.
One of the tracks, 'Billboard Bandit' is a sonic nod to the 80's when 15 year old me is singing about running around adjusting public adverts a.k.a. Going Criming. The track from 19 year old me 'Can't Hit tells her tale of going 200 mph toward a bad idea, that's probably my favourite track so far but every song is my favourite when I'm working on it. The title track, 'Medicine of Time Travel' from the present me has 127 vocal tracks. I'd always wanted to do a song with only voices as instruments and now I have. I just finished mixing that one as I type this. (it's the first song in the video) There's even a song in there called 'Excess' from 27 year old me engaged in an everlasting battle about trying to maintain my own life without trashing the planet and other lives. 27 year old me took the opportunity to ask the planet, oppressed peoples and oppressed animal people to go ahead write that one - that's exactly the way she wanted it. 'Water Balloons' has 31 year old me singing about the cycle of toxic relationships and still manages somehow to be accidentally catchy. But it's 'Bows and Arrows' where everyone visits 9 year old me and we all break the rules and comes back to "now" to be with each other; THAT STORY was the fuel propelling this whole adventure - everyone shows up for that. There's a bit of poetry between the songs where we get to meet each person without music. There are some completely recorded and mixed songs just waiting to tell me their names. There's a couple songs in my head still that I've yet to get down to "tape".
This album is real. It's raw and it is my truth. It's not all roses AND it's not all doom & gloom. Even when the subject is gloomy I tend to find the one thing that's good about a situation even if that goodness is - the fact that it can not last forever.
I've been writing songs since I was wee. The first thing I made was when I was around 4. I wrote words to my favourite instrumental song 'Chariots of fire'. I still remember them. "You never will find me in moonlight again". I Started banging at the barn piano (in our barn) when I was 6 and just never stopped. Found the guitar at 16 and now I'll play anything I can get my hands on. I sing all the time. I sing in my sleep. My dentist said I was his first person to be singing as the anesthesia wore off (not sad that wasn't recorded). At around 17 I started to realise that my music doesn't only get to be played live - it can be recorded and shared and I've been doing that ever since in whatever capacity I have at each moment whether it's a 4-track, mini-disc, phone memo or Ableton. I've been alive for 40 years and a good 36 of them have been filled with a mutual love and respect for music.
Since I was a teenager, I've mostly used music as a way to get out how I feel about particular socio-political situations. My bands like, Exploit T.V., Veil & HUMANWINE. All head-line. Heart-line was only allowed to come out a very select few times like the song 'Megan Rose' and some songs from my band The Folks Below and I usually regretted the feeling of being so exposed. I think it was because there was no context. It was just BAM! (too much feels) okay now here's another song about sanctions on a country or trash in the ocean, something I care greatly about but more importantly it was OUTSIDE OF ME.
I've NEVER MADE A SOLO RECORD. I've made a record that were all my songs, sure, but I'm the only person playing on this album & I'm not hiding behind a band name. The idea of even doing a show alone was out of the question a few years ago. I couldn't hold that kind of space. I couldn't fill the void. I wouldn't watch me. I suck at life. Why do I even make music anyway? THAT was a strong inner narrative for me but it was all made up by my brain. No matter what people would told me, it is what I believed. I've played a very teeny amount of solo shows over the past couple of years and I'm really not scared anymore of it. A BIG GIANT STEP in my evolution as an artist. I already knew I loved working with other people. I love creating with other people. I'd love to one day play with an orchestra again. It's electricity for my brain! But I had to conquer this thing. This really big thing, in my life, as a creator.
It feels safe to do this now. Merging music world with life world - fully. Not hiding my feelings within metaphors of grand socio-political schemes. Taking off the wide lens and focusing inward. Now my Heart-line can get tapped too. Valve wide open - Tidal. My personal life story is inside the music and here we are.
The thing about this album is - though this album is my story, that doesn't mean it is not your story or that you can't do a similar exercise. I encourage you to do it in your own way if you feel inspired by the concept of folding yourself in time back upon your other selves on your own timeline - to listen. It's been very therapeutic and downright enlightening overall.
Remember when Medicine used to come in beautiful glass bottles with corks? Neither do I. I'm too young. If you do - Congratulations you lucky duck. We can still find them in antique stores now with the labels all peeled off and yellowed by time. I love them.
MEDICINE OF TIME TRAVEL comes in 2 physical forms and in digital form (downloads)
MEDICINE BOTTLE: USB Cork inside a glass bottle (in a wooden box) with Cedar and Pine shavings (digi-artwork)
- The Medicine Bottle inside a laser etched Wooden Pine Box (this was going to be the only physical release but creating 'æther' reminded me that some folks need a CD, tape or Record and .WAV, .AIFF & .MP3 are just letters on a screen. "How do I get the music off the thing and put it on the computer so I can just listen to it already?" e-mails happened.
CD: Classic CD with a 12 page artbooklet (print-artwork)
- Eco-Wallet CD with a 12 pg full colour Art Booklet. Eco-wallet is a paper case.
The Medicine bottle and the CD are both PHYSICAL COPIES you can hold in your hands and smell and they both have the same Medicine, music and artwork. It's just a matter of which you prefer.

ABOUT THE BOOK IN THE VIDEO: It's called, An Analytical and Practical French Grammar by Jean Gustave Keetels. Published by Clark & Maynard Publishers 771 Broadway and 67 & 69 Ninth St. New York in 1885. I liberated from a dump in Vermont along with several other old books with severe damage. This book was the most in tact out of the group. I've been using it for art projects for the past few months.
Risks and challenges
I'm 3/4 of the way to completion. I'm working everyday either recording or making the album art. If this gets funded all packages will go out August 2019.
The biggest challenge I foresee is organizing what time to call people for our SKYPE/PHONE chats. As long as it's after 3pm EST we should be good.
