Hi!
Glad to jump on board at the last day. This indeed looks special!
Greetings!
Hollow Tree Games Creador en July 1, 2015
We have just over 7 hours to go and we just want to thank everyone again for all their contributions and comments. We never anticipated so much support from fans, fellow Kickstarter creators and other indie developers. It's been an amazing community to be a small part of.
Feel free to follow along on the development of the game at our website www.shapeoftheworldgame.com and sign up for our newsletter. And of course, we will be posting regular Campaign Updates here as well so all our backers can partake in the journey with us. Thanks again!
Lacey Foor en June 30, 2015
Thank you! (:

Hi Lacey, to receive 2 PS4 copies, select the basic GAMER reward ($20) and include an extra $20 for an additional PS4 version. We'll ask you what add-ons you'd like in the post-campaign survey we email you.
Martin en June 30, 2015
@tracey_craig Google it :) it's a way to make things look different. Fish eye vision is often used in games, art and movies. Bug vision is pretty weird though, I'll admit that :p

Ummm Fish vision?! bug vision?!
Lacey Foor en June 30, 2015
So I want 2 copies of the game can I just pledge 50, and receive 2 of my choice? I'm wanting to do this so that a friend and I can both get ps4 versions of the game. c:
Martin en June 30, 2015
I know I have written a lot here on the comments, and I promise to behave myself. This will be my last giant comment, promise! But first I really need to expand on the idea of filters I mentioned in another comment (or I won't be able to sleep at night).
Visual filters.
- Turn everything etheral.
- Tunnel vision.
- Fish eye vision.
- Bug vision
- Turn the image Upside-down.
- Black white filter.
- Smush filter. Kind of making everything splat together. I lack words.
- Out-of-focus filter. E.g. how you see the world when you cross your eyes.
Sound filters
- Water filter. The musics sounds like if you were under water (just like in banjo kazooie).
- Silence filter. Only "natural" effects can be heard e.g. no music.
- Music filter. Only music can be heard e.g. no sound effects.
- Sensitive hearing. Make it so you can hear things you couldn't hear before. Heartbeat, footsteps, flapping wings, crawling insects etc. Could be a great way to hint something to explore. Like "Oh listen, there is a bubbly sound over there!"
- Add custom music. E.g. play own mp3 file instead of default soundtrack
Gameplay effects.
- Shrink character so everything seems gigantic. Bugs could be enabled in this mode.
- Enlarge character so the world feels micro. Increased weather effects like added clouds and cloud types could be enabled in this mode.
- Speed up mode so you can dash through the world and see it change at a rapid pace.
- Animal mode. Instead of walking as the only way to move through the world, you could find orbs/triangles that changed the way you move. When a bird, you could use space/a button to flap your wings, and hold it to glide (and be able to sit on trees!). You could become a dear where the camera is all jumpy. Or a fly, where you get a mild form of "bug vision". This could also be a way to enable otherwise impossible to reach areas (fly to the top of rocks, crawl under rocks, swim underwater). Animal mode could be a perfect way to change the way the player hear, see and move in the world.
- Weather changers. Just like you already have the snowy a landscape, things could become misty, stormy, breezy, and change between seasons.
- "Cruise" mode. For the ultiamte, lazy person, it could be made possible to attach yourself to a creature in the world and let them do the moving. E.g. attach yourself to the fish-dot creatures and fly around with them.
In general I think all these effects could be locked in full control / sandbox mode, and then be unlocked as you find them in classic mode. That would be a great incentive to play both modes, and give a more classic gaming experience in form of unlocking new things and areas.
Again, just ideas. Maybe not all of them are good. Opinions are welcome :)
Hollow Tree Games Creador en June 30, 2015
Thanks everyone for the creative ideas! Especially Martin, you've got your thinking cap on I see. We're taking all of your ideas into consideration, trust me.
To answer some of your questions:
- Our PC release will be on Steam to start. We're open to the possibility of a DRM-free version down the line. The packaging, distribution and analytics that Steam offers really help us.
- We don't yet have plans for shipping on any more platforms than the four we've already announced. That's quite a few for a small studio like us!
- The world will be explorable, not linear. Don't worry about following the dots! We made our trailer fairly linear to showcase a lot of content in 3 minutes, for better or for worse, but the game is much more open. The great thing about procedural systems is that it's possible to go big!
Kenneth Ong en June 29, 2015
expanded world please, hope it's more immersive and free-roaming, dont wanna end up following the dots to the end goal every time due to the lack of space and interaction in the open world (as seen from the clips)
Nicholas Daniel Cannan en June 29, 2015
Would really like a Wii U release, is that a possible possibility? The game doesn't seem to have specs past what the Wii U can handle. Making a gyro-controlled camera with the Gamepad would be really neat!

Will there also be a Steam-/DRM-free release (e.g. GOG)?
Martin en June 29, 2015
Now that the kickstarter has succeeded, I think we could use this comment section to give some suggestions and constructive critique for the game. I do in no way expect/demand anything I suggest will be implemented, though it would be cool if it were ;) So without further ado, here is my list:
- Sky levels. You could walk on and between floating islands. If you fall off, the wind could pick you up.
- Water levels. You could start from land and delve into the deep, slowly getting wrapped in darkness and discover a wonderful water world.
- Mountain/subtropical/desert/on-the-country/city levels. I think you get my drift ;) I love walking in many different areas and cultures, and take in the different atmospheres. Of course the devs are limited, so maybe some of it could be made into (paid) DLC? I'd buy o_o
- Classic playmode + Full control playmode. In classic you would have the gameplay elements like orbs and triangles (which I absolutely adore - I love how the atmosphere and music changes completely when you collect them). Full control would enable you to active triangle and orb effects by the click of a button e.g. change the color pallet and grow rocks/trees at will.
- Overpowered triangles. In Proteus I really love how epic it feels when you get surrounded by the light glitter at night and the seasons change. OP triangles could shape add a giant tree, shoot you to another level or add exceptionally many new trees, rocks etc.
- Use silence. The soundtrack is absolutely excellent, but a moment of silence here and there (maybe except for wind and other sound effects) really sets the mood. Like when walking through a silent, snowly landscape. And then the music is so much more awesome when it pops out again. E.g. turn off the sound as you get near a mountain top, and then start it again when you reach the top.
- Finally allow vision filters & ways to alter how you percieve the world, as in how minecrafts "secret options" allows you to see the world through tunnel perspectives. Games like Proteus and Shape of the World are all about perception, so options to zoom, filter and otherwise change how the world is perceived would be extremely welcomed.
Again, all these thoughts are only meant as inspiration for the devs. The game already looks awesome and I can't hardly wait to play :)
Thanks for creating this.

Martin: Yes, our iconography on the Stretch Goals was confusing - the icon was meant to illustrate that it was our next target stretch goal. But since we're so close to the end of funding, we've updated our stretch goals to one final new goal:
If we reach $85,000, we’ll give a FREE VR EDITION to every backer who pledged at a game reward level ($10 Beta Backer tier and above)! This downloadable VR expansion will follow the original release. Platforms and release date have not been finalized.

@Tracey_Craig From 16:20 to 17:50 today (my local time), 5 additional backers have given 145 dollars in total. If this tempo keeps up the remaining now 69 hours, the total cad amount will be $78.965.
