It’s time to take HNDP to the next level and that’s why we’re here. HNDP has been running programs in Los Angeles for the past 5 years through partner organizations such as the venerable Self Help Graphics & Art in East Los Angeles. Over this time, we’ve affected thousands of youth with our incredibly popular open mic series and have individually mentored hundreds through our intensive music development workshops.
Now a 501(c)(3) organization ourselves, we think we’re ready to lead a new generation of arts nonprofits to rethink the traditional funding paradigm, leverage technology in new ways and serve a broader market. Our mission is to provide a positive outlet for under-served students and facilitate an entry-point into the music & digital arts industries.
In order to deliver on our promise, we’ve decided to combine one of the biggest phenomenons in the city, lunch trucks, with our unique blend of programing, content creation and mentorship. Being 100% mobile allows us to keep our overhead lean while serving a larger number of youth since we are not tied to a single facility or location. Additionally, it allows HNDP to partner with a larger network of nonprofit organizations.
HNDP Artist Series: Volume One
The HNDP Artist Series: Volume One is our first of many fine art group shows and includes artists that have been supportive of HNDP from day one. For this show, we selected canvases that have influenced hip-hop, which was the foundation of our Hard n da Paint programming early. Throughout the campaign we’ll highlight a new artist and the work they created specifically for this show and Kickstarter. They are all unique one of a kind pieces that would be great additions to your art collection. You could even try to own them all and keep them as a series. The artists include:
1) Cache - http://www.cachickenart.com
2) Jaime “Germs” Zacarias - http://www.germs4u.com
3) Fabian “Spade” Debora - http://www.fabianspadedebora.net
Risks and challenges
To fund this project, we know there will always be some unknown expenses when it comes to operating a vehicle. Things break down, stop working and need replacing. We’ve planned for these types of costs in our operating budget and won’t touch those funds unless needed.
HNDP has put together a proven Board of Directors with professional and nonprofit experience to lead the organization into its next chapter. We understand the challenges that nonprofits face and are committed ensuring HNDPs future success.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
