Who am I?
I started investing in the real stock market when I was 12 years old. I took the fun aspects of investing, combined it with my passion for board games, and created HIRE! At first, I did not have any intention of selling to the public. It was a fun game my family played, then our friends started to play. When they all loved it and started asking me for copies, I realized I might be onto something. But I wanted to make it better, the best it could possibly be. Through rigorous play-testing these past three years, HIRE! has evolved into a unique game that allows the player to navigate a dynamic market and make decisions that will greatly impact the outcome of their portfolio. This final version has been received extremely well by people of all walks of life and every age group - from elementary school students to recent college graduates, to working, professional adults. Most recently, HIRE! was featured in the First Exposure Playtest Hall at the 2019 GenCon Convention, where it was received with rave reviews. Even those who don't typically like these kind of games really liked HIRE!, stating "That was a lot of fun! I liked it so much more than I thought I would". You do not need to be good with numbers or have any prior knowledge of the stock market to understand, play, and enjoy HIRE! My greatest challenge now is the cost involved with creating a board game. Since I am only a sophomore in high school, with your help and support, I will be able to fully develop and perfect the app necessary to play HIRE! and to also place the initial order for production.
Recent reviews of HIRE! from GenCon's play testers:
"HIRE! struck the right combo of chance and strategy. I had a lot of fun playing."
"I liked the competitive yet cooperative nature. I felt engaged on other people's turns. Liked how often the stocks go up and down."
"I liked all of it. I really liked the HIRE! part of the board to shake things up!"

Why Back this Project:
- Everyone, from CFO's to 12 year old kids, have had fun playing HIRE! Although it does not mimic the stock market exactly (hey, it's just a game after all), HIRE! is a great introduction to financial responsibility and how the real stock market works while remaining a really fun board game
- In addition to having a traditional board game, you use a free app to play HIRE! which keeps track of stock prices and dividends (as they fluctuate up and down), as well as everyone's portfolio
- The first half of the game plays very different from the second half, since you must invest in the beginning but divest toward the end
- Every player plays until the very end, and even if they are not doing so well in the beginning, things can change quickly and almost anyone can potentially win by the end
- The game can and usually does play quite different each time depending on whether it's a bull or bear market, the strategy used, how much the players invest in crypto-currency and in portals, random market swings, and so on
- If we meet our goal, we will add stretch goals including adding cool graphics to the app and making HIRE! playable remotely, so you can play with friends and family in different parts of the world!
How to Play HIRE!
All players start with the same set amount of money, and try to finish with the most cash! For each game, you must determine the number of round turns to be played, and every player plays until the very end. As you go around the board, you can buy and sell stocks, collect dividends, hire bulls or bears to influence the stock market, buy portals to revisit desirable spaces on the board, and invest in volatile crypto-currency in a double or nothing gamble. The player with the most money at the end wins. Since winning is based on total money and NOT total portfolio value, it is important to not only invest in stocks in the beginning of the game, but to also divest in the latter part of the game to cash out.

- Collect Dividends
- Roll 3 dice, move clockwise, input the space number in the app, complete instructions for that space
- Move the floor trader
- Purchase a portal for $50
- Sell cryptocoin
- Buy or sell stock, or purchase cryptocoin
The signature HIRE! space:
If you land on a HIRE! space, decide on a bull (increases stocks) or a bear (decreases stocks) and its level (level 1 is a 10% influencer, level 2 is 20%, and level 3 is 30%), then auction that floor trader to the highest bidder. Whoever gains access to the bull or bear, will have great power in influencing the stock market, but there can only be one floor trader at any given time. If any player lands on another HIRE! space, the current floor trader will be fired and a new one will be auctioned and won.
Watch as some play testers auction for a floor trader:
The Disaster Zones:
There are three disaster spaces on the board which can greatly influence the market. The first allows the player who landed on the space to choose a company. All players who own stocks need to discard half of the shares they own in only that chosen company. The second brings the market up or down. All stock prices and dividends either increase or decrease by 50%. The third requires all players to discard half of all the stock they own, of their choosing. This last disaster space forces players to balance their portfolio with some inexpensive stocks.
Watch as playtesters land on and roll for the disaster space that drastically brings the market up or down (it went up in this case, creating a bull market):
Another unique aspect of HIRE! is your ability to buy and sell crypotocoin. Crypto does not allow players to collect dividends. It is basically a double or nothing gamble of the dollar amount you invest. This sometimes gives even the last place player a chance to come back and win the game.
Investing in portals allows you to teleport and revisit spaces you've previously landed on. The more portals you buy, the better your chances of landing on and using them.
The Other Spaces:
There are 56 spaces on the board, all uniquely designed to bring the market up or down, allow you to buy or sell only in certain companies at a time, and increase or decrease both the stock values and your cash. We playtested each space to make sure it adds something fun and unique to the game. The finished product has so many different and unique possibilities that each game you play will be an exciting and new adventure. So get ready to jump into the stock market and HIRE! to win!

Risks and challenges
Our files are ready to be sent to the manufacturer immediately after our Kickstarter ends. That being said, publishing a board game typically takes about six months -with prototypes being made, shipped, approved, then mass produced. We are also putting our final touches on the free app that goes along with the tabletop game. We will do everything in our power to deliver the best quality product on time. We do not anticipate any delays, but will keep updating our status and progress both here and on our website. As long as we reach our $12,000 goal, we should have HIRE! delivered to you in a timely manner, the latest by June 2020. The most important thing for us is that you start playing and enjoying HIRE! as much as we do!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
