Update 25 -- $200K. You Did It.

You got us to $200K. You did it.

It's been an incredible journey. And it's just beginning.

Over the past weeks, the thing that's kept us going through the 18 hours days and the ups and downs of the emotional rollercoaster that is Kickstarter, is you.

When things were looking a little grim for the campaign and we had people reaching out to us to say..."You should quit, 'cause I've seen enough of these to know you're not going to make it.", we said -- no. As long as we have one backer who believes in what we're doing, we're taking this all the way to the finish line. One way or the other.

We knew this is what you would expect of us. Every day, the team at Hinterland has been so inspired by how all of you have stepped up to help make this game, this experience, a reality. You've given us the will to continue fighting.

On behalf of the incredibly passionate and talented people I'm so fortunate to call my collaborators and friends -- Alan, Dave, Hokyo, Emily, Marianne, Zac, Cris, Sascha, Pablo, Eric, Mark, Jennifer, Elias -- thank you for your support, your belief, your trust, your energy, your passion, and your courage.

Together, we're going to make something amazing.

Now let's blow some of those stretch goals out of the water. We have 3 days left. Let's give this a fight to the finish worthy of The Long Dark.

I was worried there for a little while - specifically entering the last 10 days with more than half to go. This is fantastic! I'm very excited and I'm glad so many people find the frontier being explored in this game to be engaging. Congrats!

@Ja Powers, The Oculus Rift stretch goal was unlocked early. The Hinterland team decided to unlock it once we reached 100k by Oct. 2nd. The new stretch goals have been revised because of that.

Boy, did I hold my breath at a week before the deadline. I was beginning to grow pessimistic, but this victory is an inspiring one, and you owe it more to yourselves and the community than to luck.

I'm very glad that this has been funded and I can't wait to get hands-on with the beta version. Speaking of which, what's the planning right now on the beta release? Mid 2014?

I hope you guys will keep us posted as much as you've done during this campaign (well, a bit less is expected of course :-) ) and you should be proud of the community you've brought together already!

Great news, so looking forward this project being released - well done on running one of the best campaigns I've seen yet

I sure hope this shines. This was my LAST computer game. I have been burned to a crisp on every other game I have "kicked" on. This was my last and final hope.

Awesome news. The increased press coverage helped a lot. I heard about this on and became a backer as soon as I heard about it. Good luck with the dev work guys.

Eh, I was never worried - I knew you had it in you. Now, about that oculus rift goal. >:) Let's get'er done! This game cries out for that personal touch (the one where you're convinced your arm is being gnawed off as wolf jaws close over your head...)

Definitely an outlier in terms of how most Kickstarter funding patterns go.

IIRC, at 10 days out of 30 left, you guys had only reached 50%/100K, which definitely isn't the most encouraging.

But things really picked up, due to the increased press coverage and you guys reaching out to well known gaming streams, etc to have a look at the game.

I guess you guys are gonna be a good case study of how devs who are really committed to making their project succeed and make the right approaches to the right people can still get it done.

Kudos on not giving up, I look forward to checking out the game when it launches!

congratz, this is definitely something I've been looking forward to. bad news is now we have to wait a year for it to come out. argh, almost all the projects i've backed are coming out in 2014, it will be a good year for gaming

Firstly: that people would contact you and advise quitting is bizarre - why bother?! Secondly: a mid-campaign dip is completely standard, and I had faith in you guys as soon as I saw the pitch. Quality and experience shine through. I can't wait to play through your vision, and you can count me as a hinterlands fanboy. Go team!

Congrats on reaching your goal! Can't believe you had people telling you to quit, they clearly had no idea. I mean sure, it was a bit dicey for a while there, but you had some awesome tricks up your sleeve. Anyone who knows anything about KS would know what a big impact releasing some ingame footage can have, or announcing big name voice actors. And you had both! Now for my armchair KS protip: keep the Paypal open for (at least) another few weeks after the KS ends for up to the $100 level. And get someone working on a way to let KS backers upgrade their pledge too. You'll probably get another $50K from this; a game that ends in a storm of publicity like yours is doing will have tons of people discovering it just after the KS ends.

First, congratulations on persevering and succeeding! Hard work brings good karma. As far as all the "You should quit." naysayers, I'm glad to have hitched my wagon to your project and I look forward to us both watching those negative nancies in the rear-view mirror.

Maybe it makes me naive, but I never once doubted this Kickstarter. I was surprised to read people thought it would fail! I probably am naive. This game deserves twice the funding it's already gotten, especially considering the awesome press!

I had faith in this game since Day One. I can't wait to download and start playing it.
Congratulations on your success and I hope you guys continue making more games with so much potential as this one.

Conversely.. I've seen enough of these to know that you didn't have a worry in the world to get over the line.. especially with all the marketing that's been going on. So I'm not sure who those people were.. but they have no idea really..

    45. Michael Hartmann

What? People told you to quit? Glad you didn't listen. Always seemed very likely that you would make it to me.

    46. Joe Scoggins on October 12, 2013

I've had and still have high expectations for this game. There are a lot of games that are also trying this genre and are being poked through, but I feel it with this one and hope it blows the rest away. Good job guys and keep up the terrific work! I know this game will be just awesome!
