11/1/17 HIGH FIVE IS SUCCESSFULLY FUNDED, THANK YOU ALL! To follow this project, go to: http://www.lauradohertymusic.com
I'm back in the studio working on my 5th children's album, titled "High Five!". We've been recording 10 new original, catchy folk-pop songs for your whole family to enjoy! "High Five" will officially release in early spring 2018. Kickstarter pledgers will receive the album early...in December 2017!
What I’m asking for here is your support in helping make this album a reality! Making a record is an expensive endeavor, and with the scarcity of record labels in this day and age (especially in the genre of children's music), independent artists such as myself rely on the support of their fans. Kickstarter is a great platform for spreading the word about my new music, and also having fans and friends be a part of the process.
One of the nice things about Kickstarter is it's the place to pre-order my new album! You'll receive it in advance, before it officially releases to the world, and also have it in your hands (or downloaded on your computer) before the holidays! A Laura Doherty CD makes a great gift for a little one in your life! This new CD is geared for ages 1-8 yrs! Check out all the awesome reward options for making a pledge!
I'm recording again with producer Rich Rankin at Mosaic Music studio in Chicago, who has produced my previous 4 award-winning albums: Animal Tracks"(2016), In a Heartbeat (2013), Shining Like a Star, (2011) and Kids in the City (2009). And together we co-produced the Old Town School of Folk Music's Wiggleworms Love You CD (2005). All of my music is available on iTunes and Spotify, and you can hear select tracks on Pandora!
Planning is underway for the "High Five" TOUR in select cities and towns around the country in 2018!
I'm recording with musicians from the Heartbeats, including Rob Newhouse, Rich Rankin, Michael Riendeau, Andrew Wilkins, and Cat Tager. There's a few surprise guest musicians too, including Grammy-nominated Justin Roberts, as well as Anna and Evan Jacobson on horns, and Matt Brown on banjo! Top-notch talent in Chicago!
I've set a goal to raise $10,000, which will help pay for:
• Recording, studio hours, mixing, mastering, producing and printing the album
• Musician fees
• CD cover art illustration and design
• Kickstarter Fees- 8-10% of my goal goes directly to Kickstarter and Amazon for hosting and transaction fees.
• Postage - sending out all of the Kickstarter rewards to get to everyone on time
• Marketing, publicity and promotion of "High Five"
In reality, to successfully create, produce and promote "High Five", the expenses will add up to over $15,000, so any additional funds raised beyond the will go towards all of these things listed above.
If you are unable to donate financially, please consider helping me spread the word via social media by posting a link to your page, or sending an email to your friends. Word of mouth goes a long way!
Thank you all so much! xo--Laura
Risks and challenges
Kickstarter is all or nothing! If I DON'T meet the goal, the project won't be funded (and your card won't be charged either). With all the amazing listeners, supporters, teachers, students and fan families I've met over the years, I am optimistic that I will meet my funding goal!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
