Dwarves in trouble is an easy and witty non-collectible card game. Players take the roles of Dwarf Treasure Seekers who are trying to survive an encounter with a furious dragon. The company is running away and in the same time is trying to get rid of the looted treasure. In a dwarves’ world it would be surely considered a dishonour to simply throw the precious stuff away.
Thus, the aim of the game is to dispose of your gold in a clever way. You may keep SOME of the coins but you need to be the one with the least of them. Otherwise, the dragon burns you to ashes.
The game is intuitive and easy to play. In your turn you play your cards to get rid of gold and you use them to protect yourself during other players’ turns. React to what is happening on the table, be clever, be fast, be sly. Don’t worry if you fail. The game is quick so there are many occasions to take revenge.

Playing Dwarves in Trouble is great fun. Its illustrations are designed to be pleasant to an eye as well as to entertain the players. For thi reason we focused on high quality graphics. We made sure that the pictures are large and that there is a reasonable number of clear icons. All the game illustrations were made by Rafał Szałapa. He is a recognised cartoonist (Bler) and a computer games graphics designer (e.g. for Artifex Mundi). You may appreciate his skills in the films we share on our project’s site.

We are running two board games cafes. Due to this fact, we were able to test Dwarves with our customers: both the experienced ones and those who are only starting their gaming adventure.
We have been “torturing” them for months playing the game in order to gain precious feedback and to develop our game. Over 1200 people played the game. All the positive reactions, comments, good fun and laughter we had seen confirmed our opinion that Dwarves in Trouble is a good, fast and interesting game.
We had even better feedback at the 2015 Essen Fairs. During the fairs over 30 publishers from all over the world proposed publishing it in their own language.
We ship games in bulk to fulfillment centers around the world to reduce customs fees & VAT and to keep shipping prices low.Game weight will be about 0,5 kg (basic version) and 2 kg ( with Metal coins)
Please note, that shipping will be paid after the Kickstarter campaign ends, from the Pledge Manager level. Prices are not final and might slightly change in the Pledge Manager, depending on how many stretch goals we will unlock (especially if we unlock Metal Coins set).
ESTIMATED SHIPPING RATES AT THIS POINT ARE:
- Europe - $5-$9 (Poland $4-$5)
- US & Canada - $6-$10
- Asia - $10-$20
- Rest of the world - $20+
We are a team of board games maniacs who decided to devote all their energy to creating something unique in the board games world.
We are running two cafes designed for players, we run our own TV channel, we unite and integrate the biggest players community in Poland.
How had this all begun? We had always needed a convenient place to play board games. We decided to meet this demand and create a place that would be suitable for both ourselves and for other games passionates. We knew exactly what the players need and we wanted to put it into practice. Our first step was finding a good place. A hidden backstreet building seemed to be perfect. We knew that only players would be able to find it. After 8 months of a thorough redecoration there was a moment to verify our expectations. There were over 400 people at the opening day and it proved the place is special. With time, Hex became something more than a café with board games. It has turned into a meeting place for the gamers society.
Our ambition was to create a place where you can just drop in with your friends, pick a game, sit comfortably with a drink or a snack and simply enjoy the game. We are trying to encourage as many people as possible to playing games: we are focusing on both experienced players and on beginners. We are trying to show them that board games are not only a great way to pass the time but also a method to develop your skills. As you can see, our passion for board games is expressed in many ways, like running the café, the publishing, reviewing games. All of the above allow us to make our board games dreams come true and also to run projects appreciated by others.
Risks and challenges
Dwarfs in Trouble is our first game and our first Kickstarter campaign. We have spent a lot of time and put lots of effort before its launch. We have been testing the game on hundreds of our café’s guests and on Essen Fair’s participants. We have been working on the graphics details, we have been searching for cards and coins manufactures. We are lucky to be supported by our friends from well-established and experienced publishers who have already published their games either with Kickstater or by publishing hundreds of titles a year themselves.
On the day when our campaign launches, the complete basic version of the game is ready to be produced. We have already decided on the producer. However, after reaching specific stretch goals our designer is going to draw additional cards, which have already been pre-designed.
The only risk we might be afraid of is the time we need to produce the cards and coins and delivering all the stuff on time. Both aspects do not depend on us personally. We tried to set reasonable time frames. We would rather surprise you with an earlier delivery. ☺
We want to keep you informed about the production process stages and the delivery of your copy of the game during the campaign. As we are passionate perfectionists we are open to your feedback. We work on our projects with our hearts so we want them to be possibly best quality. Your comments and opinions could help us to achieve it.
