We are the Hét Hat Club, an international travelling gypsy jazz band based in Budapest, Hungary! We’re planning a USA tour during January and February of 2017 but we need a bit of your help… [drum roll]
Our band was formed one year ago by individual travelling street musicians with a deep and common appreciation for gypsy jazz from USA, France, Italy and Hungary who met in Budapest. After playing street performances, concerts, weddings, festivals, and touring through Europe, we are now booking shows in the USA and organizing our first studio album.
Our current formation includes:
- Isaac Misri - Guitar (US)
- Antonio d'Erchie junior - Guitar (IT)
- Valentin Desmarais - Saxophone (FR)
- Fischer Balázs - Double Bass (HU)
We plan to record our first studio album in Budapest this month. The CD tracks will include original arrangements, a mix of classic and rare gypsy jazz songs inspired by Balkan folk traditions with an explosive energy. Hét Hat Club has a unique and particular formation that includes a saxophone in its formation which is rare in jazz manouche.
We already have our plane tickets and over 20 shows booked in USA. Here are some of the important venues that will be part of our tour:
- Make Out Room - San Francisco - January 22
- 215 Main - Point Arena - January 26
- Don Quixote - Santa Cruz - January 30
- The Mint - Los Angeles - February 12
- Red Poppy Art House San Francisco - February 24
For more details about the shows check our facebook page.
Your support will help us release a full-length album, and tour internationally!
Here is a rundown of what we are crowdfunding for:
- Recording and mastering our new CD.
- Print 500 copies of the album to reward our supporters and sell on tour.
- Buy a van to travel and sleep in when we are in the USA
- Rent a double bass for Balázs, our bass player
As we are a travelling band we spread our music to crowds during our street performances. When performing on the street we not only share our music but our lifestyle as well. We usually travel from city to city, engaging our audiences and building a fan base as we move around Europe.
To save money and spread our message of eliminating food waste we recycle food discarded by large supermarkets. We sleep in our van or camp, or stay with friends we meet along the way. When talking to audience members after sets, they are often surprised and inspired by our lifestyle. They see the passion we have for our music and some of the comforts we sacrifice to live as full time travelling gypsy jazz musicians.
We have great rewards for your contributions.
Check them out on the side of this page. We appreciate all your help in making this tour happen!
