A graphic novel featuring quirky, sexy, and romantic themes. This is the next offbeat work in comics you've been looking for.
It is at this stage of a campaign that a project pulls out all the stops and A NIGHT AT THE SORRENTO is no exception. Everything takes on more urgency and more clarity. The final days of this campaign will see more updates, new rewards and videos. But, at the end of the, this is a fine and entertaining product. If you like your comics a little bit weird and defiant, with a true sense of the artistic and the literary then this is for you.
A funny thing happened over the weekend (April 27-28), during the Stumptown Comics Fest in Portland, Oregon. I attended a panel discussion entitled, "Kickstarter and Indie Comics." When it came time for the Q&A, I raised my hand and wanted everyone in the room to know that I currently have a Kickstarter campaign. And so I did just that. The time was very limited so I was only able to name the project and suggest that's what you have to do sometimes: Take a risk and call attention to yourself. I didn't have time to describe the project let alone make a case for it. I wish I had. However, everything here lays it out for you in, what I hope, is a concise and compelling way.
You'll read about rewards too. That's spread throughout here and in the updates.
And, certainly, what I want to promote the most is the book itself. It's all about the book. And it's all about you!
An Intriguing New Reward: The Fifteen Minutes of Fame Reward
Consider the NEW $15 LEVEL REWARD. I am a longtime writer of the comics and pop culture scene. I am a peer within the industry. I know the nuts and bolts of good storytelling. This is not a hollow conceit but a fact. I have interviewed many talents, including author Mark Z. Danielewski, actress Zineb Oukach, and screenwriter George Clayton Johnson. For only $15, you have your opportunity to be my interview subject and get the full Comics Grinder treatment. And, if you like, I will include one of my distinctive ink renderings of you or a subject of your choice. The interview can be a podcast or, if you prefer, written out. This will be published on my website, Comics Grinder.
Maybe you have a book, band, or film to promote. It’s all up to you. As long as it falls within reasonable content (no haters please) you’re in the game and good to go. It’s a unique opportunity and I don’t take it lightly. I rest my reputation on it. Check out my website, Comics Grinder, and you won’t be disappointed.
A NIGHT AT THE SORRENTO AND OTHER STORIES is a 200-page book collecting both short works in comics and a graphic novel. It is packed with comics for the sophisticated reader.

What's All The Fuss About?
So, what is all the fuss about? It's just good ole quality work. Henry Chamberlain is very familiar with the nuts and bolts of good storytelling. As a creator, and reviewer, of comics for many years, he has an intimate knowledge of what it takes to create compelling work.
It only stands to reason that he is mindful of integrity, as well as entertainment value, when assembling a work that puts his reputation on the line.
The short works originate from three years of 24 Hour Comics Day challenges. These were subsequently refined. They are, "The Dog Who Would Be King" (2010); "Bear Karma" and "Kill The Witch" (2011); and "A Night at the Sorrento" (2012).
The 24 Hour Comics Day challenges were hosted by the Phinney Neighborhood Association in 2010 and 2011 and the Sorrento Hotel in 2012. All three years have been sponsored by Comics Dungeon, the leading comics shop in Seattle.
As an added bonus to round out this package, a graphic novel is included, "Alice in New York" (2003 - 2007). This is a shaggy dog love story about a young man's first visit to New York City. During his weekend visit, he stumbles upon his destiny with the help of spirits led by Alice, of Wonderland fame.
The goal is to a create a quality edition of this collected work. With your help, "A Night at the Sorrento and Other Stories" can become a reality.
"The Dog Who Would Be King" follows a dog with a strong sense of rejection for being launched into space. His misadventure converges with a master and pupil's misguided love affair.
"Bear Karma" shows a man naked to the world as he confronts a horrible crime and the price he must pay.
"Kill The With" gives the undead a chance. But, given an inch, they always take a mile.
"A Night at the Sorrento" brings the party to a luxury hotel as a couple with supernatural powers battle it out to the bitter end.
"Alice in New York" is a classic hero's journey with one big twist. Given the opportunity, a young man must take a bite out of the Big Apple.
The print reward is "William Howard Tafts and Smith Tower" The painting reward is a steampunk painting, 24" x 30". Here is a sample, "Steampunk Spring."
