The Hemsbach Protocol is a project by performance company Mammalian Diving Reflex as part of Matchbox, an itenerant art and culture project initiated by the Culture Office of the Metropolitan Region of Rhine Neckar. The project is simple: a team of artists is working in collaboration with the Town of Hemsbach to assist in the settling of refugees. We will try anything legal to help the newcomers begin a life. In October we will make a first public report of our findings. Subsequent reports to follow. There is a thriving trade in cars and consumer goods to Africa. We want to understand this trade and see if we can start to create a small industry for Ebrahim, one of the refugees we’re working with. He can’t work now, but when he is able to, we intend to take what we’ve learned by sending this car to Gambia. This is a pilot project, all funds will go back into the project, to help us figure out how to facilitate a good transition into Germany for as many people as possible, always sharing our findings and our methods with others in presentations around Germany and the world. Please make a donation, help us send a car to Gambia and see what happens.
Risks and challenges
As we stated above this is a pilot project. We are intending to learn on this. It has been researched well. The risks and challenges are very small since no matter what happens we will produce findings and we will report on them in our show. There is no such thing as useless knowledge.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
