The Spindly Man cannot be stopped.
Mandy has thrown everything into fighting the nightmarish entity, only to be defeated. Now she must delve deeper into the origins of the Spindly Man's legend.
But with a town in despair, and more children vanishing, time is running out...
This Kickstarter is designed to offer new readers a chance to catch up with the previous issues of “Mandy the Monster Hunter: Legend of the Spindly Man”, and fund the printing costs of the third, penultimate, part of this dark-fantasy tale inspired by cryptids, folk lore and modern mythologies. “Legend of the Spindly Man” is a horror-fantasy comic, terrifying for readers of all ages. Those new to the character of “Mandy” will find this the perfect introduction to her world of monsters under the bed and creatures lurking in the shadows. If you've read about Mandy the Monster Hunter before, then be warned, this is her darkest and most challenging mission so far. Older readers will appreciate the dark undertones, and themes reminiscent of the works of Neil Gaiman or Terry Pratchett, whilst younger readers will see a world of terrifying monsters and an awesome female protagonist. As with all "Mandy" stories, it is written with all-ages in mind, but as this is her scariest tale yet we'd personally recommend ages 12+ (PG-13 for those in the US)... but every child is individual, as Mandy well knows. We have successfully funded the first two issues of “Legend of the Spindly Man” on Kickstarter, and now we're offering the same opportunity for you to pre-order and be among the first to get hold of “Chapter Three”. New to “Mandy the Monster Hunter”? No worries, as you can pick up previous issues as well as part of this Kickstarter campaign, and join Mandy on her mission to defeat the Spindly Man... if she can!
The art work is 100% completed, the book is being lettered and the printer is ready and waiting to go ahead. The book is happening, but at a cost. We want to bring the entire series out within a year and it is only with your help that we can make this viable. Pre-ordering your book gets you numerous rewards and guarantees you as one of the first to grab a copy as they will be sent out the moment the campaign ends and your surveys are returned to us. You also get our eternal thanks for helping support indie comics. So if you love monsters, scary stories, comics, jump into the world of “Mandy the Monster Hunter” and support our kickstarter!
Following on from the successful campaign for the first two issues, we're not only giving you the chance to pick up “The Legend of the Spindly Man #3”, but to also get hold of a range of awesome extra items, some exclusive to Kickstarter. Once more, learning from feedback from the previous two campaigns, we've adjusted the way the Art Prints rewards work. This time, the three art prints options, presented below, are available to all backers, and you simply CHOOSE which of them you want. However, any additional Art that may be unlocked or added to the campaign will be specific ones. The three art prints available this time include a stunning, colourful rendition of Argyle the Sock Monster with Mandy, from artist Jamie Keys. Next up is a terrifying interpretation of The Spindly Man from Hellbound Media regular artist Anna Susanne, whilst the third option is from Lyndon White, and is a print of a stunning splash page from the second issue.
All comics will be sent out bagged, boarded and safely packaged up. Some rewards are unique, limited in numbers, including the opportunity to have original line-art of the actual comic, from artist Lyndon White. You can also grab the first two issues on any reward tier by adding an additional £5 to your pledge per copy, and letting us know when the survey is sent out at the end of the campaign!
The unique “Mandy the Monster Hunter” T-Shirt, produced by Genki Gear, is available once again, in some of our higher level rewards. Usually retailing at £15, you can grab this T-Shirt, available in numerous sizes from Small to XXL, at a low rate with other rewards. Also, want it added to a different reward level? Just boost your Pledge by £13, which is including postage, and list it as a “Add-On” in your Survey when the campaign ends!
We have TWENTY copies of the comic which will be signed and include a small unique sketch by Lyndon White. These are very limited, but offer a special extra reward for our backers. The biggest reward on offer, however, is the chance to own the original artwork for the comic, presented Inked and signed by Lyndon. Backers will be able to choose their requested page based on the order in which they back, first come, gets first choice. A selection of your choices can be found below, with the full list available upon completion – we don't want to give away too many spoilers do we? ;)
The Merch Bundle also returns for high end backers, who can get a host of extra goodies related to Mandy the Monster Hunter, Legend of the Spindly Man, and Hellbound Media in general. We've got the third series of Kickstarter Exclusive postcards to offer, featuring Lyndon White's stunning artwork from the series. We'll be offering Button Badges related to both Mandy and the Spindly Man, with final designs being released shortly. The images of the sticker and button badges follow:
And don't worry if you missed out on the postcard sets for the first two issues. Simply add an additional £5 to your pledge and let us know on your survey to get hold of the "Spindly Man #1" and "Spindly Man #2" postcard sets. These remain EXCLUSIVE Kickstarter and will only ever be available here. Also, if any backers want ADDITIONAL Postcards, feel free to add to your pledge and let us know via Messenger.
The next reward returns following its popularity on our last Kickstarter. Once more we can offer a limited run of your very own Spindly Man! The last batch are in the final stages of production, which you can see in some of the images below, and we can offer a further THREE. No extensions this time however, these three are the final ones we can offer via Kickstarter. Need a little eldritch horror in your home? Risks and challenges
Beyond some form of unavoidable disaster (e.g.nuclear fallout and the rise of the Super Mutants), there really should not be any. The art is completed and in the process of being lettered, we have a printer, and it is all priced up. This is the third issue and we've done this many times before, and like to think we're pretty good at it by now. Once we have the funds we can be ready to print once everything is polished, and get the rewards into full production. At most, we may hit unavoidable delays but we have set a clear dead line for ourselves this time, and we will hit it!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
