“What a refreshing change – a horror comic that is genuinely horrific.”
- Steve Tanner, Writer of Flintlock
Slaughterhouse Farm is a blood-soaked love letter to the grindhouse horror classics of the 70s and 80s. The horror of The Hills Have Eyes or Texas Chain Saw Massacre relocated to the isolated mountains of North Wales. There is tongue in cheek humour and a mysterious plot to be uncovered – but Slaughterhouse but this comic is still as nasty as hell, with decapitations, impalement's and dismemberment's to keep gore hounds satisfied. The story begins with Frankie and Julian taking a minibus full of troubled teens for a weekend in Snowdonia – but horror is literally waiting round the bend in the twisted form of Pigfucker!
Small Press Big Mouth described Slaughterhouse Farm as “a blood feast of bad taste”. “Pigfucker carves himself into the pantheon of gore gods and makes Leatherface look like Farmer Hoggett.”
Slaughterhouse Farm came out of the desire to give Wales its own bogeyman – a figure stalking the mountains and farmland of Snowdonia that could stand alongside Jason and Leatherface. Created by North Wales-based comic writer Matt Warner (Mandy and the Monster, Dawn After Dark: Kiss Me Deadly) and horror critic AJ Ballard, the series is inspired by classic splatter films of the 70s and 80s set in the modern day with a dose of humour. Artist Arfon Jones, who himself lives in Snowdonia, was recruited to the team after Matt and AJ saw his cover art for North Wales produced horror film Zombies From Ireland. When Arfon said he pictured Slaughterhouse Farm's killer as Universal horror actor Rondo Hatton painted by North Wales artist Sir Kyffin Williams, it was obvious he was a perfect fit for the project. The team was rounded off by letterer extraordinaire Nikki Foxrobot who has worked on dozens of small press comics, including Hellbound Media's titles, and colourist Steven Denton (Dept of Monsterology, Massacre for Boys).
The first three issues of Slaughterhouse Farm have proved very popular among both horror film fans and comic readers alike, becoming one of Hellbound Media's best-selling titles.
Hellbound Media is an independent British-based comic company founded and run by Mark Adams and Matt Warner. Matt works in journalism, whilst Mark is an academic specialising in horror and cult media. It is with this background in writing, and a lifetime interest in fantasy, comics and horror, that the two of them came to form Hellbound Media. An outlet to write original horror and fantasy fiction, they've come to work with a team of amazing artists and other guest writers over the years. The company launched officially at Bristol Comic Expo in May 2011, and has gone from strength to strength.
The "Slaughterhouse Farm" saga has proven to be one of Hellbound Media's top titles, ever since a short story was printed in our "Shock Value" anthology. Spawning its own mini-series, the "Slaughterhouse Farm" titles are fan favourites!
We've come to Kickstarter now to ask for your support in bringing this bloody saga or murderous mayhem to a climatic and gore-soaked conclusion. The final issue is already in production, partially completed, and the end goal is in sight. We're hoping this campaign will help raise awareness of the project with a wider audience, offer new readers a chance to pick up the series, allow existing readers to pre-order their copy of the finale, and also let us offer some unique and awesome rewards - including the chance for your own mutilated remains to feature in the final comic! Check out some pages from previous issues below -
We're offering a whole banquet of rewards! As well as the chance to pick up the final issue of the book, and any previous ones you may be missing from your collection, we also have exclusive art prints, unique one-off personalised sketches from artist Arfon Jones and your chance to even feature in the world of "Slaughterhouse Farm"!
First of all, we'll clarify the back-issue process, whereby you can add any of the previous three issues of "Slaughterhouse Farm" to your pledge. To do so, choose the pledge level you want, and then simply add an additional £3 per issue to the total amount. For example, if you want the "Unspeakable Horror" tier reward plus the three issues, pledge at that level. When entering your pledge amount, add an additional £9 for a total of £24. This gets you everything at that pledge tier plus the additional three comics. You can do this for however many of the previous issues you need to complete your collection!
Our other major rewards lets you cameo in the comic itself. The lower tier offers you a chance to featured as one of the bodies of Pigf**kers previous victims, whilst the higher tier is a one-off opportunity to feature as a character in a speaking role. You'll simply be asked to provide whatever reference images you like for your appearance! You'll also be credited in the comic itself for your appearance!

Risks and challenges
As with our previous projects, beyond some form of unavoidable disaster (e.g.alien invasion), there really should not be any. The art is in production, lettering is underway, we have a printer, it's all priced up. Once we have the funds we can go to print and have everything completed within a couple of months.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
