The unique experience of Heldentaufe arises from two distinct but connected realms: The Upper World and the Netherworld. Heroes can travel back and forth between both worlds through portals.
Events and activities in the Upper World are mostly serene and peaceful. Harvest natural goods, carry out missions and trade items. Somewhere hidden in the Netherworld lies a bright and shiny treasure – but what underworld would be complete without monsters and traps?
Heldentaufe is easy to learn and has all the key ingredients of a true adventure game: discovering treasures, collecting items, completing missions, and battling monsters.
Explore the Upper World by uncovering tiles. Through a revealed portal you may step into the Netherworld. Use action points for the following actions: 1. move, 2. swap mission cards or 3. attack. Fulfill missions, find treasures and fight to gain valuable monster teeth. Be the first to return the requested number of monster teeth to the campfire and you win.

The rules of Heldentaufe are easy but challenging for all ages. The rules as such are final, the final layout will be done professionally once we are funded.
You can choose from the following rewards. The depicted rewards refer to the corresponding pledge level from the list on the right side of this page.
The national currency for our location Switzerland (and therefore for this campaign) is Swiss Francs (CHF). Conversion is easy: 1 CHF / ~1,02 USD / ~0,90 EUR. We have added converted prices to each pledge level description on the right side of this page.
We have some stretch goals for this campaign. These will be unlocked if the total funding of the campaign reaches the corresponding amount shown on each stretch goal. Some of the stretch goals only apply to backers who pledged for a physical copy of the game.
We have more stretch goals for you that we will uncover one after another, each time a new stretch goal has been reached.
* Free for backers: Remainders of this mini-expansion will be sold separately after the campaign. Only for backers it is included for free!
In addition to these stretch goals we have a community stretch goal that will be unlocked as soon as a certain number of Action Points is reached. More on that in the first update.
* Please note: Items marked "Kickstarter exclusive" are limited to this campaign and will not be reprinted. We reserve the right to use remainders as promo during conventions.

Team Heldentaufe is a group of 4 people from Switzerland and Germany. Two more people, the illustrator and graphic designer accompanied us during the developing process of the game and campaign.
We are Simon (game designer), Bastian (game development, online version), Kaspar (game development, 3D renderings) and Daniel of Board Game Circus (campaign development, marketing).
The official website of Heldentaufe is www.heldentaufe.ch
Our illustrator is Mathieu Leyssenne, whom some of you might know from wonderful board games such as Jamaica, The Hare & the Tortoise and many more. It is his beautiful artwork that brings the story of Heldentaufe to life. See more of his art at www.aniii.com
The graphic design of the campaign page was done by Léonard Crettaz. You can see his portfolio at www.anditis.ch
Here we provide answers to the most common questions about Heldentaufe and the Kickstarter campaign. We will update and extend the FAQ during the campaign.
Risks and challenges
This campaign is a reboot. The first campaign has been halted because of a risky calculation and missing shipping partners. A lot has been improved since the first attempt: For this second attempt to fund Heldentaufe we have made a proper calculation, partnered with experienced shipping companies and teamed up with a new member (Daniel) to support us in marketing and promotion.
Publishing a board game is a complicated process which is prone to many mistakes. During the past month we have worked hard to prepare this campaign and the manufacturing of the product. The rules are final and translated, the illustrations for the game as you see it are all done, the layout for printing cards and components is done and the production quote from our manufacturer is in hand and ready to be initiated.
If we reach the stretch goal for illustrated mission cards our illustrator Mathieu Leyssenne will need some extra time to work on these. The same applies to the Spanish rule book which has to be translated if we reach the stretch goal. Finally all rule books are undergoing professional layout after the campaign. More stretch goals will eventually delay production.
Pre-Production and production usually takes a while and unforeseen events may occur. Such as color corrections that have to be done or sending print-proofs and material samples back and forth until everything is exactly the way we want it. We are definitely not going to rush out the game, we want everything to be perfect before we start production. If anything of this happens it might delay production.
Delivering goods around the globe is no easy task but we have shipping companies with an expertise in board game deliveries. Once these companies have the manufactured products in their warehouse they will start shipping these rewards to you. In the past we have seen deliveries being delayed due to harbour strikes, plane strikes, warehouse strikes or troubles with customs at the border. Several holidays might as well delay delivery. If anything of this happens the project might run late.
Whatever happens, positive or negative, we will share it with you. As avid backers and lovers of the Kickstarter community we are 100% dedicated to open backer communication. We will involve you as much as possible and be transparent with our process. During the project we will be present answering any questions and reading all comments. During the campaign and production process we will update you regularly to make sure you always know where we are at.
P. S.: We are a team from Switzerland and Germany, our first language is German. Please keep that in mind whenever you read something that doesn't sound right for a native speaker. Sometimes we make mistakes just because we don't know better. In case of doubt please ask what we meant instead of making wrong assumptions. We are here to assist you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
