Hello perspective project contributors!
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Heidie Fifield, and I am a singer-songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. Ever since the age of eleven, singing, writing, and performing have been my number one passion. But over the years, like so many, my dreams of having a singing career had fallen to the wayside, and I found myself moving up the ladder in a career that was eating away at my soul by the day. Five years ago I decided to take a risk, drop my well paying job (which provided a very comfortable life I’ll give it that) and head back to school full time. Now I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Columbia College Chicago, and more importantly have been given countless opportunities to expand my musical knowledge, and to collaborate with some of the best musicians, studio engineers, songwriters, and music business experts out there today. I am now working professionally as a vocalist throughout the Chicago area, and couldn't be happier.
Why the long drawn out story? Well, my huge life change is essentially what brought me to this point, which was to a career as a vocalist, songwriter, collaborator, and best of all, what is leading me to completing this EP! It's my little way of showing people that beautiful things can come out of risk taking. But, I can't do it without your help!
As some of you may know I recently released a single, "No Love Like Our Love" in October 2014. Please feel free to check it out if you haven’t already done so, as it will not only be on the EP, but will give you insight into the kind of sound you’ll be hearing on this record (the link is listed in my bio at the top right corner of this page). I’ve often been told that my songs are “catchy”, but my goal for this record is so much more than that. I pull a lot of my material from my own experiences, but have recently been forcing myself to search outside the box, and to draw upon others inspirations and stories. The result I'm hoping is an undeniably honest, soul-grabbing collection of tunes with catchy hooks and melody lines that anyone can relate to.
I plan on raising $12,087 in 30 days, in order to complete this project. Here is a breakdown to give you a better understanding of where the money will be going:
Recording Fees (session time/mixing/mastering)
Session Players (quality, professional players deserve to get paid, simple as that)
CD Manufacturing (this includes cd duplication, and packaging)
Fees (5% of the total amount raised goes to Kickstarter, plus another 3-5% in credit card transaction fees)
Any additional money raised above this goal, will go towards marketing and promotional costs.
HOW KICKSTARTER WORKS:
Kickstarter has implemented an “all or nothing” rule. So in order to accomplish everything listed above, I need to reach at least $12,087 by the deadline, or the project won’t be funded. Which means, I won’t get to finish the EP, and you won’t receive your awesome reward incentive, which is listed to the right of this page.
I want you all to feel as connected and involved in this project as I am. So for ALL pledges, I would like you all to have the opportunity to vote on which illustration will be used as the cover art for the album. I will set up a separate link for voting coming soon, and each of you with your permission, will get a special shout out on my personal Facebook and Twitter pages to show which image you had voted for (pledge amount kept anonymous).
This project is also a part of the http://kickingitforward.org movement. So I am gladly donating 5% of the total amount raised (of my OWN money, not from funds raised during this campaign) to other Kickstarter Projects.
With that said...
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get the word out! This project is not JUST about raising money, it’s ALL about community, support, and working together on something that I know will be something great! ANY pledge is a wonderful contribution. I promise to include all of you, every step of the way through photos, updates, personal emails, letters, you name it, we’re in this together! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me, and for being a part of this exciting process. Now let’s go make an amazing record!
Risks and challenges
The obvious risk is that the project will not get funded. With that said, if by some chance it is not, rest assured you will not be charged for your pledge. If it is funded, how can you trust you’ll receive your reward on time? Like in every project venture, there can be unforeseen setbacks that can arise. But, I can tell you with the utmost conviction that I have spent an enormous amount of time preparing as far as budgeting, organizing, and researching, and will work very hard to get it to you in the time frame promised. This is as much your project as it is mine, and you will be updated and included every step of the way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
