Heavy Gear Blitz 2017 Kickstarter Preview: Peace River Skirmisher Model

The Heavy Gear Blitz 2017 Kickstarter to make plastic miniatures for the Peace River, NuCoal, and Utopia faction core models is now set for a mid-September launch. This weeks preview is the Skirmisher model for the Peace River faction, checkout the image below with all the detail improvements and information. We changed the way the head and torso parts will be sprued and placed in the plastic injection molds to get better details on the front head sensors. Plus made the arms more poseable and the legs now have ball and socket connections to the hips for wider leg poses if the player wishes. Plus the butt plate and front and side hip armor plates are now separate parts which are glued on after the legs are posed.

As with our previous preview we are including a link to a new 3d PDF of the Skirmisher which the Solidworks 3d software allows us to make now, click here to download the 3d PDF (4.3MB) file. Once on the download page, you will need to right click on your mouse for the option to save the file or you may have a download button at the top right of the screen to click, as 3d PDFs won't open automatically online. And you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for PC or MAC, here is a link to its download/install page. Once you have the filed downloaded to your computer and open it using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. See our previous update with the Warrior IV preview at the following link for a fast preview of how the 3d PDF works.

We want your feedback on the Skirmisher model, leave you comments below. We'll continue tweaking the parts up until the Kickstarter launch to get the best new plastic models possible. Upcoming previews will include the Warrior, Crusader IV, and Argos models for the Peace River Faction and then models for NuCoal and Utopia Factions.

Consider the cross the body resin arms (upgrades) as optional buys during the campaign. Similar to the northern/southern gears - but shipped with the campaign rewards. Lord knows I need more HGB like a need a hole in the head - but I'm looking forward to helping this become reality.

It seems that the proportion is good.
I like split detailing of the head. I expect it.

Some nice improvements on the leel of details and posing options of the models. I like the stockier build of these PRDF models. If there's room on the sprue a kneeling option for variety would be nice

He looks excellent, way better than the warrior from last week.

Oo, I really like the looks of this one, I definitely favor the proportions here over the Warrior from last week. And the PDF setup is still great, looking forward to the next one!

Fair enough. I've done it before, I guess I was just being lazy. :D

@ Frank. We though about that but decided against it, as we think it will be easy to glue the 2 one piece legs to the hips with just 2 drops of glue and get a nice pose. But if we made each leg 2 parts it would be a pain for the average player to get all 4 glue points right for the desired pose. For the more advanced modeler, the legs are plastic so they will be easy to cut at the knee joint and glue as desired it you want.

These improvements seem awesome, it sounds like you learned a lot from the last Kickstarter and are really taking it up a notch with these. Looking forward to adding some PRDF to my collection!

So, if we're going to add all the extra parts (which I'm mixed on), would it not make sense to go ahead and slot / round tab the knee, so we get a basic hinge joint out of it?
