The moon dripped onto the lake and the lake melted into a sound. We assembled a studio in a nearby cabin to record it's songs for you.
Everything that's going to happen is going to happen. Cats will catch mice. Trees will grow tall. Songs will float in over the lake and haunt the ones who hear them til they're sung into microphones and squeezed through wires. Moon Lake is Heavy Duty Super Ego's debut album in-the-making and with your help, it will be released on Record Store Day, April 20th, 2013.
While previous EPs emphasized the bands garage-rock live feel, the new album leaves behind the grimy garage for a dusty, moonlit cabin on the water. After a year of songwriting on the lake, Heavy Duty Super Ego is joined by producer Eamonn Vaughan who disassembled his recording studio The Lion's Den and re-assembled it inside the cabin to capture an authentic recording of an authentic experience. Progress on the underway Moon Lake delivers natural melodies with heart-felt harmonies singing out strangled sentiments and stoned poems over dream-sequence-drippy guitar tones and shuffle-strut polyrhythms. We couldn't be more proud of the sounds coming from our studio/cabin right now, however, production costs add a hurdle between our music and you. Studio time, disc replication, audio mastering, distribution fees, album art, packaging, skins, tubes, strings, stands... the actual cost of making a full-length album is prohibitive for us independent artistfolk. We dove into this project head-first, it's up to you to help us see it through.
We're always grateful to have an audience to play music for and eternally thankful for any funding you can pledge. If we don't reach our goal, than we receive none of the pledged dollars, but we have faith in supporters of independent music like you. Choose from the donation rewards to the right and we will see you at the next show!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Studio costs and production costs are our biggest challenges. After we've raised funding for those, the next challenge is to get the word out on the awesome album we made together. We have confidence in the supporters of independent artists that we can overcome these challenges.
