If you love chocolate but struggle to find a DELICIOUS ALTERNATIVE due to being vegan, low sugar or having food intolerances or simply want to avoid palm oil then we feel your pain.
I love chocolate, my children love chocolate and who doesn’t love chocolate?!
However, due to food intolerances, my family have not been able to enjoy chocolate for some time. We are also passionate about the environment.
Hello! I am Stephen Conway founder of Heavenly Chocolate. Our bars are not only vegan they are also free from gluten, soy, AND Palm Oil but they are low in sugar too - less than 4% compared with up to 55% in some standard chocolate brands.
I am sure many of you have heard how the industrial use of palm oil is helping to decimate the rain forests.
The recent revelation about type 2 diabetes in the young has been partly attributed to the high sugar content of sweets and fizzy drinks.
Sugar has also been blamed for a whole range of health issues in the press:
WHY I STARTED HEAVENLY
I started Heavenly Chocolate when I went online to find some chocolate that my family could enjoy without the downsides and spent over £100 on various brands only to be completely disappointed. There were no low sugar milk chocolate alternatives that tasted any good.
I was about to give up when I asked the question that would change our lives forever. "How difficult can it be to make a Delicious dairy free, low sugar milk chocolate alternative that is better for us and better for the planet?"
I tried and failed multiple times - literally hundreds of times but I kept on persevering. I felt like I was the Thomas Edison of the chocolate world and had his words ringing in my ears - I have not failed to invent the light bulb, he said, I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.
I collaborated with incredible chocolatiers and eventually, our determination paid off when we discovered the recipe that resulted in my children’s eyes light up with joy when they tasted it for the first time.
Our recipe includes the finest cocoa we could find, and also includes inulin which was featured so positively in the BBC program "How to stay young".
We have had so many emails, calls and messages telling us of the joy of watching a loved one taste something that they never thought they would be able to enjoy again - but we also have so many customers who buy it not because of any dietary reason but because they simply love the taste.
OUR MOST REQUESTED PRODUCT
So we have now asked our customers what they would like to see next. The overwhelming response was requesting a snack bar version around the 100 - 125 calorie mark perfect to fit in with most diet plans or for their kids to have as a quick treat.
However, we need help to buy the equipment to make these new bars a reality.
So this is your chance to not only help all those families but and in return be amongst the first to try these new fantastic bars yourself. We know you will absolutely love them.
So thank you for checking out our campaign, we have range rewards to choose from on the Kickstarter page
We are creating a revolution in the confectionery market and we are really excited about this next chapter and can’t wait for you to be a part of our story.

Risks and challenges
The main risks are delivering on time and within budget. We are working closely with printers and machine manufacturers to ensure that we get the equipment and the wrappers in time for January / February but we need to keep on top of them to ensure things do not slip behind.
The world makes making stuff look easy. But manufacturing at scale is complex and requires a trusted team, vetted vendors, and a fastidious grasp of the product (if one aspires to quality and safety, at least).
Although we have made large bars before, this is our foray into manufacturing at a much bigger scale for smaller bars and using flow wrap. That’s why we have been prototyping, market testing, sourcing, sampling, to get to where we are now with a pretty high degree of confidence. We have with an awesome mould manufacturer.
Having said that, we have already experienced some of the tribulations that can occur with manufacturing projects, from delays due to unforeseen recipe changes to temporary equipment failures prompted by recipe changes. We have done our best to account for such time with conservative estimates, and we promise to share updates along the way.
