About this project
Blending the analog smoothness of tubes to the dynamic, detailed soundstaging of digital, Billie plays all your music beautifully: be it from vinyl, Bluetooth, CD, PC or TV.
Billie is a high performance stereo amplifier made for the way we listen to music today.
We use music to set a mood, to relax, to socialize, to heal. When we get lost in music, we become a better version of ourselves: smarter, stronger, happier.
Today’s Bluetooth speakers and soundbars have made music listening flat and unengaging. Our musical experience has been reduced to utility: a sonic wallpaper to fill the silence. Have we forgotten what it is to be moved by music? When was the last time music gave you goosebumps?
We believe that stereo is still the best way to experience that ‘live in the room’ feeling. We’re not about ‘multi-room’ we’re about ‘in the room’: listening with eyes closed, it’s as if the musicians are right there in the room with you. Hearing their fingers sliding down the strings, the singer inhaling: these micro-details add intimacy and realness to a recording. It should be the first aim of any soundsystem.
Good sound can change our music experience: the better the sound, the better the experience. Our goal is to restore the bond between the listener and music, to bring back the ritual of listening.
For some, the practicality of Bluetooth speakers has great appeal but for us, it’s all about a bond with the music through better sound. Some people get it, others don’t.
Our objective is to build something special for those who do: an amp combining the soul and craftsmanship of the past with the ease and precision of today’s technology.
Named after Jazz icon Billie Holiday, Billie features 6 inputs, ICEpower amplification by Bang & Olufsen, a tube preamp, Hi-Res DAC, AptX Bluetooth, optical, analog line and vinyl inputs.
Two multi-function knobs control the amp -one for power and volume, the other for source selection and pairing. Billie auto shuts off after 45 minutes of inactivity. The built-in vacuum tube preamplifier enhances second order harmonics, diminishing the harshness associated with digital. At 125W per channel, there’s enough power to drive any speakers.

We’ve assembled a team of world-class engineers with decades of experience in audio equipment design. Searching for the right combination of life-like performance with smooth highs and good bass definition, our engineers explored both new and vintage technology, from old school tubes to the latest DACs.
Quality and durability were of utmost importance. In pursuit of affordable local manufacturing, we worked extensively with our partners on rationalizing production techniques, selecting sustainable materials and reliable components.
Moving away from the current trend of generic design and disposable materials, we used a shell of thick, machined aluminum, balancing the cool minimalist details with warm, oil-finished hardwood knobs.
Covered by a 5 year warrantee, we built this amp to last. We designed it to be durable and timeless. No matter where the technology goes, this amp with its relevant inputs, will deliver great sound for years to come.

In order to produce Billie at this amazing price, we need to place large initial orders with our manufacturing partners. Your pledge will be used to pay for the parts, assemblies, and licensing necessary to get this project off the ground. In return, you’ll be amongst the first to own the Billie amp at a great price.
On behalf of the entire team, thanks for your help in making this dream a reality.

Risks and challenges
We feel strongly about Billie’s likelihood of success, we already have several working prototypes but like everything else on Kickstarter, it’s a work in progress. Timing, unforeseen circumstances, delays from manufacturing and distribution are risks with launching any product.
We have a competent award-winning team behind us working to minimize this and to bring our product to you as fast as possible. Our Montreal-based manufacturer has many years of experience producing high-end audio equipment. We will do our best to overcome any obstacles and keep you updated every step of the way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
