Welcome everyone! Ryan and Jeff here. In the beginning of 2015 we founded HEARTWORK APPAREL CO. An urban wear clothing project inspired by love for humanity and our willingness to preserve it. Ten percent of every sale benefits someone in need directly. By putting away the 10% per annual quarter, this gives us ample time to sell product, raise money, and choose the proper beneficiary; ultimately resulting in a greater positive impact. Although we are NOT a charity, we ARE dedicated to making a difference in the world, one act of random kindness at a time; which we directly reflect in our designs and the positive message they carry.
On August 22nd 2015, roughly 3 months after our first sale; HWAC set up and ran a food drive benefiting Bridgeport Rescue Missions "Great Thanksgiving Project" which provides a holiday meal to families less fortunate. With just over $2,000 in sales our first quarter, HWAC made a $200 food donation to contribute to the drive. After about 6 hours with the help of surrounding communities around Fairfield County, we raised just over $2,500 worth of food, weighing roughly 1,200 lbs. That's roughly 1,000 people fed this holiday season!
On Nov 15th 2015 as our 2nd quarter benefit HWAC hit the streets of New York City. Again with just over $2,000 in sales between the months of August and October. We wandered the city handing out winter coats and twenty $10 gift cards to a popular fast food chain plentiful in NYC. We also wanted to utilize some of our time and talent by performing several acoustic songs street side and put the acquired monetary donations toward feeding those less fortunate that night.
These are just a couple great examples of how we plan to give back. Anyone can just write a check to any of the numerous charities out there and call it a day. Not only is that completely impersonal, but how can you be positive that 100% of that donation is being used for its intended purpose. The fact is you can't. What we’re doing here at HWAC is taking that 10% and turning it into something tangible, something that shows that we're here to help, not to watch. This allows for not only a great impact on the world, but also a transparent way for the customer to see exactly how that 10% is being used.
All of our T-Shirt products are currently printed on Bella + Canvas & NEXT LEVEL products. 100% cotton or tri-blend (50% poly 25% combed ring-spun cotton 25% rayon ) AKA the softest shirts you'll ever own! Printed by some of America's best printers at merchNOW. With successfully funded stretch goals, our plan is to further our brand by expanding into active and outerwear as well as eventually manufacturing our apparel entirely in the USA. We provide only the best service for our customers and our communities. If you don't believe us, check our mission, the product we put behind it, and the positive impact it creates.
Since the beginning, we have paid completely out of pocket to launch this project. Building our workshop and mobile storefront, producing product, advertising, marketing and distribution. We have now, however, reached a point where paying out of pocket is no longer affordable. This is due to the increasing rates for advertising and the high demand for our existing products as well as our expansion into outerwear, headgear and active wear. Along with funding the basics (listed above) we also need funding to attend various festivals, fairs, expos and trade-shows. This maximizes our exposure and amplifies our positive message potentially getting our products in the hands of people across the globe; ultimately creating the greatest impact possible.
Finally, we are bringing this project to Kickstarter because of the amazing opportunities that Kickstarter and its community provides. We have endless faith in our mission, and the products that make it possible. We have the connections, the experience and the know-how, now all we need is your help to continue to grow this amazing project.
***Some of the apparel images here are mock-ups. Actual products may vary in color tone, graphic size/positioning, etc. Number of inks used in the graphic, and available colors are all things that may change by the time of production.
***A NOTE TO OUR SUPPORTERS AND BACKERS*** 100% of all donations supporting this campaign are to be put directly toward the intended goals if successfully funded. This includes production of all backed rewards, production of our current line of product, building our user friendly website/ online store, paying all legal fees, acquiring professional packaging and funding our marketing campaign (additional stretch goals mentioned below). All donations will not be subjected to the 10% charitable cut that HEARTWORK APPAREL CO. holds itself to. Meaning that this campaign in and of itself is a non-charitable campaign and all funds will go toward the fore mentioned goals.
