In the 1980's a new television channel took over the airwaves. This channel promised to pipe music videos into our homes, 24 hours a day. What the hell went wrong?
The truth is... nothing was ever right at MTV. Some people say there is a satanic force behind the entire music television movement, but our hero Blueseph J. Headmetal knows the real story: the only demon behind MTV is his dear ol' dad, Rahm Stein.
- A real world story with high fantasy concepts.
- Main Theme: Media consolidation is stifling freedom of expression and only a boy born with a guitar head can save the muthafuckin' day!
- 88 pages of comic book chaos starting in mostly black & white, transitioning into a monochrome color scheme, before exploding into a full color finale.
- A COMIC WITH CRESCENDO!!!
After serving in the Marines, working as a firefighter, and dodging oncoming traffic as a bike messenger, I decided to truly walk the razors edge and take a job in the publishing world. After years of learning the craft of publishing others, I'm ready to share my work with the world.
Why I wrote GUITAR HEAD: I was born in 1980, and that means that my earliest childhood memories are littered with the trashy videos of MTV. Of course, there were some amazing videos, too, but let's be honest-most of them were nothing more than bad commercials for cars, clothes, and jewelry.
But hey, at least MTV played music back then! Now we live in a world where Reality TV is king, and MTV played a major role in creating this insipid genre that infests the airwaves.
Not to mention all of the scandals and corruption the founders of MTV have been involved with along the way... I mean, no wonder there are dozens of conspiracy theories out there about how the founders of MTV are satanic lizard people hell bent on the dismantling of American values.
Don't believe me? Read Chapter 4 of GUITAR HEAD now!
Suicidella is an Italian artist based in Rome. She came into this world with a pencil in her hand! Her cyberpunk/urban style developed along with her interest in underground art (comics and illustration) and music (punk rock, hip hop and electronics). Suicidella is a great admirer of the filmmakers Tsukamoto and Cronenberg --- she, too, is obsessed with the man-machine-sex topic. She often participates in musical and artistic shows with exhibitions and live paintings.
Aaren is a multi-instrumentalist who leaves a trail of scorched air molecules in his wake: he jams. He ain't too shabby on a computer either. Tapping into his artistic and technological skills, he has served as colorist, letterer, as well as graphic designer on several different projects for Headmetal Press. Apart from this, he is an avid outdoorsman, proud father of two kick ass kids, and a loving husband.
Leah has a Master’s degree in English literature from the University of Toledo, and has been teaching Composition, General Studies, and Humanities since 2007. She stumbled into freelance editing in 2010, and has since worked on projects with the likes of Kosmic Kasey, Howie Noel, Josh Blaylock, and Dirk Manning. In addition to her work in the comic world, she has edited several novels, including several by the author Jayne Blue. Here and there, Leah publishes a short story or a newspaper column, or comes up with a clever Facebook status, but you’ll more often find her collecting cats, thrift-store shopping, and reading.
Because Kickstarter is the shit. Kickstarter gives me the chance I need to connect with you. That's what every independent creator needs, a chance to communicate. So please understand how powerful this platform is, and after you buy a copy of GUITAR HEAD... please browse Kickstarter and support other indie creators. We need and love you!
- PRINTING: $900 - 45%
- PACKAGING/SHIPPING: $500 - 25%
- MINI-FIGURES: $400 - 20%
- KICKSTARTER FEES: $200 - 10%
The campaign will run throughout October and end at midnight on Sunday November 4th, 2018. Since printers will not give estimates about shipping dates until there is an order placed, there could be a two month wait for books to arrive at my house. If possible, I would LOVE to get your stuff to you by Christmas 2018! However, all backers should expect to receive their rewards by 02-01-2019 at the very latest.
Man, Kickstarter is HARD WORK!
Thankfully, whenever I get stressed out, I just:
Thank you so much for taking the time to discover and explore what we have to offer!
Please buy a copy of GUITAR HEAD and help bring a unique character and a wild new story into the world!
Hell, BUY TWO COPIES and start a MF'ing revolution!
Risks and challenges
This is my first Kickstarter project. However, the biggest risk is already taken care of: the GUITAR HEAD graphic novel is 100% finished!
Not only that, but I've been supporting comics on Kickstarter for years and I've learned from the glories and mistakes of others. I've also spent the last 6 months as a member of the ComixLaunch Mastermind with Tyler James of the ComixLaunch Podcast and ComixTribe imprint.
Tyler has ran 14 successful Kickstarter campaigns and raised over 400K! It's Tyler's goal with the ComixLaunch course to ensure that independent creators in the Comics/Graphic Novel category of Kickstarter under promise and over deliver to every backer.
I've also been working with multiple printers to get my pricing as low as possible, and I've already purchased all the packaging I'll need to ship 100 copies of GUITAR HEAD. If I need to buy more, I will smile all the way to the store and get it done!
I know that I'm not going to get rich on this launch, that's not my goal. I'm an independent creator who believes in his work and I will not consider this project a success until a fresh copy of GUITAR HEAD is in your hands:
