Main features:

PLATFORMS

 Ada will get initially released on PC, Mac and Linux. Both steam and  DRM-free. What will follow is later release on consoles, which with  enough funding could happen simultaneously.

 Fast travel - there are two fast travel mechanics in Ada, short and long distance. You can either teleport between crystals as a shortcut or move between whole zones.

 Hand crafted zones that are proceduraly put together - each play-through world of Ada is built differently, from carefuly handcrafted and designed zones. This way you can get unique experience without making it feel artificial and unimmersive.

 Random Encounters - while exploring world of Ada, you will run into many unexpected situations. Be prepared! Or... die!!!!!

  • ghouls feasting on preys be it animals or dead families, 
  •  traveling merchants, 
  • knowledgable priests,
  • bandits laying in ambush, 
  • monster lairs, 
  • post-war scenes,
  • and many more... uh... there's a lot of them!

 Some encounters change overtime. Friendly traveling merchants could become prey of ghouls or other vile creatures lurking around the world of Ada.

Fast-paced skill based combat - Combat in Ada is based on combination of basic attack routine with secondary skill of your choice and potions/consumables. No fight could end well without proper movement and dodging.

 Dark Crystals - most attacks in Ada requires  Dark Crystals, you can get them by attacking enemies. Ragelike mechanic  used for everything (also spells)

Basic combat mechanics

  •  Base attack - slash through enemies with a classic deadly 3 - attack combo,
  •  Roll - classic evasive manouver, roll your way to victory,

Secondary skills:

  •  Attack skills - powerful melee attacks, blink AoE smashes, shooting dark ink bolts, traps that shoots spikes at enemies and more.
  •  Defensive skills - shield yourself, heal yourself, get invisible for a brief amount of time, turn foes against each other and much more.
  •  Items - throw potions, plant seeds, send animated skulls at enemies... and more!

      Every enemy in Ada is carefully designed to bring the highest  amount of fair difficulty to game. They are unique both visually and mechanic wise. Some will attack you alone with big combos or huge swings, other will be fast, agile and evade your attack while some may group up to get you with numbers.

 No matter what enemy type are you facing you always need to focus or else it may go really wrong. Some enemies will jump at you from hiding or spawn as you disturb their nest. Be aware as you never know from which direction the danger will come.

 Ranks of monsters is constantly growing not only in sheer numbers, but also in variety. Player can run into undeads, vicious beasts, local tribesmen, creepy insects or ancients.

 Enemies in Ada does not end here. Once you get deep enough you will find out that there is something more. Something far more dangerous than what you have seen. Prepare for epic encounters with main and side bosses that are fitting for the zone you are exploring. Some you must face, while others could be skipped, but remember: with great danger comes great reward.

 Ada may feel out of place, but this is what she has to do. While progressing throughout the story you will find out where she come from, why is she here and what her destiny is.

 Unlock and upgrade skills as you go. Choose from handful of amazing abilities that will be crutial for defeating tougher enemies.

Once you unlock the skill you can upgrade it to get more slots to put your infusion orbs in. Each and every upgrade comes with different effect. From basic ones like boosting damage, range or speed to advanced ones like players after image, flaming footsteps or defense shield.

 Equip those that suit you best. Or just slash everything with basic attack. No matter what you choose the world will be againts you. Becouse you are an outsider.

Use alchemy to create useful potions. Some may be used to heal, boost  up abilities or can be thrown at enemies to harm, confuse, stun or even  turn them against each other. 

 Collect herbs, crystals, vials and all kind of ingredients to create  powerful potions. Each of them comes in different sizes, and as we know  the bigger the size, the stronger the explosion.

 Some potions could be even used to interact with environment. To burn things down or freeze up the water. Who knows what that might mean for you and exploring the world of Ada.

 Every story needs to start somewhere. This is where you meet Ada and as much as you'd want her to have a normal, happy life it is just not possible in this land, in this time, in this world. Any job would be better than that. But what if that is the only one...

"I should have never entered these ruins. Well, no one  could ever change Madys mind?"

 "Something was terribly wrong."

Things always worked out. Somehow. But not this time.

"She was always the one to take risks, so why am I the one left alone?"

Everything has changed... It always was hard, you had to be tough to survive, but now? How could it turn out this way...

 "I'm sure I knew those woods. Not anymore, I guess."

 Dive right into the story filled with mystery and loneliness. Nothing in this land is what it looks like and nothing is  how  you remember. 

Interact with characters, participate in their storylines and complete quests. Each and every one of them has its own story, character and appearance.

Pieces of history of the land you explore can be found scattered along your way. Either as paintings or flashbacks showing you ancient battles, turning crubling ruins into castles or historical events.

Original soundtrack for the game is being made by amazing Bryan Nguyen. Once you sink in it you can never go back. 

Game will feature a full length soundtrack which will accompany the  player across the whole world of Ada and help him immerse into it.

Ada is a product of love and passion. All of the game that you can see was made by one person, which is me. 

Idea to make a 2d action rpg emerged in mid 2017 and evolved into the  style that you can see today in the middle of 2018. Being a story  driven game that focuses not only on tight mechanics but also delivering  unique and memorable experience to the player, it needs plenty of  diverse assets made and o lot of work to be put on creating art. All of  that makes making Ada especially difficult task for only one person.

That being said you can see that much of the game is already there.  Most of the mechanics and gameplay systems are already implemented and  working. Almost all of the basic assets for most zones are also done.  Although the core of the game is solid and progressing with steady pace,  there is still much to do to bring to the game its unique feel and  "real" soul.

Development timeline:

  •  Q3 2020 - Beta Tests (for serious testing) 
  •  Q1 2021 - Release for PC (Steam, GoG) 
  •  Q2 2021 - Release for Consoles (with enough funding could be released with PC version)

Hi! My name is Jakub Hakiel. 

Ada is my precious project and it's been developed by me, myself and  I, which means that I'm a solo indie games developer. I'm an educated  programmer with experience as a software developer, math programmer,  engineer, scientist and more. It all made it possible for me to be able  to handle all the stuff from design to final product release. I believe  all the skills I aquired during my professional career are being used  while making Ada come true.

 Decision to make a Kickstarter campaign is always the tough one.  Putting so much work into it not being sure if it will pay off is always  risky. 

That being said Kickstarter is a unique opportunity to make  development of the game directly connected with its fans (which I hope  you guys are :)), while raising money to secure Ada release. 

Covering the development costs of a game with Kickstarter also gives  the creator freedom to make the game unique in a way that working with a  publisher would have denied.

Base funding goal from the campaign will be spent on development and  music, whereas any overfunding will go into making Ada even greater  experience, once it's close strechgoals will be revealed.

Risks and challenges

As you most likely know, developing a game is an ever-changing process. That means it's really hard to predict everything that we will run into.
I'm working on Ada each and every day and I know I'll run into problems. I can assure you though that whatever will be happening I'll be 100% transparent and you will always be informed of any problems that might affect either your experience while playing game or the release date.
