Mike Vitale and an assortment of his musician friends are recording a new album. Pre-order a copy to help fund the project!
Here is the abbreviated story of what I’m after:
I have been working on the recording and production of an E.P. of original material for the past three years, but have lacked the funds necessary to properly mix, master, and package my efforts. Personally, I would like to expand on this E.P. and make it my first full-length and fully produced album!
So far, I've been very fortunate to get all of my musician friends involved on this project. An example of what we have made together can be found below:
I want to produce the best damn album I can make; I want to make something that tells the story of my life—something that touches people. I've been really fortunate to make a lot of really talented friends and acquaintances that I would like to work with, I just need the funding to make it happen.
With your help, I hope to release an album that will be one of the many proud creations of my life. I want this to be the domino that sets all the rest in motion. I want to get back out on the road, touring the country, supporting my original music. A timeless and heartfelt album is the first step in making that happen.
Where will all the money go?
Creating a really great album is very expensive and very time consuming. As with all great pieces of entertainment, the finished product is only as good as the sum of its parts.
An exceptional album requires good chemistry between skilled musicians, a producer with a clear vision of the finished product, and the ability to capture a moment of intense feeling—this can effectively be accomplished by hiring trained professionals.
With that being said, I'll need to pay for recording time at studios, engineers, mixing, mastering, packaging, producing, photography, artwork, etc. Mixing and mastering alone can cost upwards of $1,000 per song. This price does not include the cost of all the other stuff listed above (which is equally pricey, and necessary). As you can see, an album is very expensive!
I have set my base amount at $5,000 for this Kickstarter account. This is the bare minimum amount required to mix, master, package, and release an E.P. (4 or 5 songs) of material that I have been working on for the past several years. However, with every bit of money that I make over $5,000, the overall quality and length of this album increases!
My desire is to raise as much money as possible in order to capture something passionate and compelling—something timeless. Something that I will be proud of the rest of my life. More importantly, I want to make something that becomes the soundtrack of your life!
Why support my project?
I love to make and perform music! This is my dream and desire in life. I want capture something that is unique within the realm of self-expression, and then travel the country, playing it for people. By simply pre-ordering a copy of this new album, you are making a solid investment in my dreams. How cool is that?
I can make the best album possible with your help! However, if I fall short of reaching my goal of $5,000, I won’t receive any of the money pledged by you. None of the project supporters (you) will be charged unless I reach my goal; this won't be determined until September 30th 2012, so there will be no charges made to your credit card or check card for your pledges until that day.
Please send this Kickstarter campaign page along to anyone and everyone that you know who believes in the power of music, art, self-expression, and most importantly, dreams.
Why am I using Kickstarter?
Making a great album always starts with an assortment of exceptional songs. However, how these songs are presented to an audience is equally important! The quality and quantity of the songs will depend entirely on how much money we fundraise using this campaign—the more we are able to surpass the initial goal of $5,000, the more songs I can record and produce, and the better the overall quality of the album, in general.
My desire in life is to express myself as artist and to make a comfortable living doing so. I want to write music that other people can relate to, so that we know, deep down, we are all in this life together. In short, I want to grow old with you, doing what I love.
