About this project
WHAT IS HAWAIICON?
We will be hosting the 10th Reunion of the fantastic cast of Stargate Atlantis as well as blazingly bright stars from Babylon 5, Farscape, Fringe, Xena, Game of Thrones, Star Trek and many others.
Of course it wouldnʻt be a real con, a hardcore con, a rock hardcore...
ahem...con....without having some of the best comicbook artists and writers from the region and around the world.
Because it is in Hawaii, we will be showcasing the mythology of the islands, not some oooga, booga BS, but real local ancient knowledge and indigenous sciences. Astronomers working on the cutting edge of the top observatories in the world will be on hand to reveal the newest discoveries of some of the oldest light in the universe! Mars mission folks are doing all kinds of research right here on the Big Island and will present panels on whatʻs going on out in space and how weʻre going to go there on the next big missions.
You want real theatrics? We will have a star studded live reading of a sci-fi comedy (think Galaxy Quest with a twist) that will be shot in 2015. You will be the first audience!
Like other cons, we will have panels and workshops running all the time in state of the art, air conditioned rooms. Over 100 to choose from!
BUT WHO EXACTLY HAVE YOU BOOKED?
Every week we book more guests and the more fans that sign up for the con the more folks we can bring, but so far we have a ʻnot-too-shabbyʻ list.

The fantastic Jane Espenson is coming to talk about producing and writing for Buffy, Battlestar Galactica, Torchwood, Once Upon a Time and her new venture Husbands. Personally Iʻd like to ask her about the Firefly episode she wrote...Shindig! She is bringing along one of her creative partners Brad Bell who is a creative tornado acting, producing, and writing for screen and comics.

WHEN AND WHERE WILL THIS HAPPEN?
September 12-15, 2014 at the Hapuna Prince Beach Hotel (which, at night, looks like a starship landing on the beach) And we got you a gunga deal! We got you free parking, no resort fees, and the taxes are included. The rooms are ginormous. So bring a friend or two! Families can even have 2 adults and 2 kids per room!
BESIDES BEING IN AN AWESOME PLACE WITH AWESOME PEOPLE, HOW IS HAWAIICON DIFFERENT?
Thatʻs not enough? Well...we will have a different environment. HawaiiCon will have no big lines, no huge cattle calls like other cons, but with lots of great stars and events. CosPlay contests, DJed music in the evening, late night series of rare movies, Dr.HorribleSingAlongs, gaming and much more!
In addition, come this winter, you will be able to add on special tours and events you can book with the media stars you have come to see. Learn to hula dance along side Claudia Christian or maybe go snorkeling with Torri Higginson? Ziplining? Horseback riding? Scuba diving with Patricia Tallman? Up to you!
To create this engaging environment, HawaiiCon 2014 will be limited to 2500 people max. Come have a great time on the beach with us!
WHAT ARE THESE CON PASSES AS REWARDS?
All CON PASSES include the reunion panels, all other panels, and most all the workshops.
VIP PASSES include two Gala Dinners and Luʻau with entertainment (these 3 dinners are a $300 value). Some of the entertainment is exotic Tahitian and Hawaiian hula. Some is the even more exotic Rachel Luttrell singing songs from her latest album.
Children under 4 (and willing to sit on your lap) donʻt need con passes :)
WHY SECURE A HIGHER RANK IN THE REWARDS?
The way this works- the higher the rank, the earlier you get to book your tours, workshops, photo-ops, and other add-ons. There are limited spots. These add-ons start at $25 and go up.
Each rank gets a week to pick and order their bookings. Once something sells out with a particular star- it is sold out. Some of the tours – like helicopter are very limited (3 seats), some have as many as 100 places (snorkel tours).
Admiral – December 2nd – have a week to yourself to pick the best of the fest! We will be beta testing the site with you for the next few weeks, but if you have a problem we will be able to take your order via personal phone call.
Commodore – December 9th – have a week to pick the best of the fest! Nothing will be sold out yet. We will be beta testing the site with you for the next few weeks, but if you have a problem we will be able to take your order via personal phone call.
Captain – December 16th – have a week to pick the best of the fest! The only thing that might be sold out is the heli tours. We will be beta testing the site with you for the next two weeks, but if you have a problem we will be able to take your order via personal phone call.
Commander – December 23rd –Christmas week! Treat yourself to some fantastic adventures.
Lieutenant & First Lieutenant – December 30th – Have a great New Yearʻs Eve and plan the best trip ever! First Lieutenants get super low prices and regular Lieutenants (and all ranks above) get these awesome t-shirts when they arrive at HawaiiCon!

Risks and challenges
There are a ton of challenges, but we will surmount them to give you the best Convention vacation ever! We have the support of numerous organizations including the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the Governorʻs Office. Together we will make this a great event!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There are a few packages where you can buy two tickets.
If you want more, you need to create a new login for each ticket past that. This does help us avoid scalping, but we are working with Kickstarter to create a more streamline solution.

All con passes cover all three days of events!
Events start on Friday in the late afternoon/early evening and go late into the night.
Saturdayʻs first events begin at 6:30am with "Tours with the Stars" and go to late night movie screenings and DJ dancing ending at 2am on Sunday.
Sunday morning starts again with 6:30am "Tours with the Stars" and the last events end well after midnight (i.e. into the wee hours of Monday morning).
Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday, all day, from 8am-10pm will be full of scores of panels and workshops to choose from.
We will also have some specially priced tours of the island, snorkeling, and other adventures that you will be able to book that happen the day before and after the con, so if you stay longer or plan to come early we have you covered with some great experiences! Lava tours, hiking to waterfalls, and other great things that you can only find in Hawaii!
Amazon will be charging for the packages Monday September 23, IF we meet the goal of $35,000. If that goal is met, we are definitely making this con happen.
The December, January and February delivery is when people who bought pre-sales tickets will be booking the add-ons (extra hotel days, photo-ops with stars, tours, workshops) through our online booking site we will have set up by then.
At that time you will receive the full list of things you have signed up for. You can continue to add on items until the con happens.
What is it like? Busy, in a fantabulous fantastic awesome way.
On Saturday and Sunday:
From around 6:30am the Tours with the Stars will be departing, early to get you back in time for the big panels.
From 8am-10am there will be smaller panels and workshops.
From 10am-5pm the will be 8 tracks of programming around these themes:
A dealerʻs/vendorʻs room will be open from 9am-7pm. Autographs and photographs with the stars will run from 11am-5pm.
The evening will continue until midnight and beyond with smaller panels, workshops, cosplay contests, live and Dj music, movies screening with film directors present, and gala dinners.
Fridayʻs programming will begin at about 3pm.
