CONCEPT: The next movement in stock design/photography. Think Flickr gone wild with alternate version uploads, no file-type restrictions and everything licensed and backed by Creative Commons.

DETAILS: Lets forget about what we think of as a stock photography or stock design website. Lets create a new environment where creators can share things they’ve done with other creators. Stocky will help us pool together our resources to create a place of transparent, high quality collaboration. And in the spirt of open source, everything is free for you, and free for them.
All types of media will be allowed in the community (photography, videos, vectors, brushes, fonts, templates, sound files, etc.), giving artists and designers a place where they can truly share their work with the community. Many designers already do this in a small scale environment, and Stocky is here to unite them.

FUNDING: The cost of a VPS subscription to host the site: Up to $500 / year
The cost of our back-end developer: $5,000 (approximate)
I am coding most of the front-end html / css, designing the UI / branding and moderating activity / submissions.

Additional funding will help Stocky afford more social features and continuously free accounts for all users. Developing on our host is free, but once we start allowing users to access the site, our cost goes WAY up! In addition to direct expenses, my cost of living for 3 months with this project as my full time job is approximately $1,700, so I could definitely use the help too! Ahh! Lets get this project moving!
WHY HELP?: A new take on stock media can help the design, art and small business community. I see the current stock media situation as a dried up well. It has a some great work and a lot of junk being sold, abused, stolen and recycled, roundup after roundup. Furthermore, owners often heavily protect work that is meant to be given away. With your help, Stocky will be a new place to cultivate artwork and designs that can help others in their own endeavors. Its kind of like... sharing!
